NBCSN to host four-night, iRacing Short Track Series

iRacing Short Track Series

It’s an iRacing world and we’re just living in it.

After FOX’s success running iRacing events during the COVID-19 shutdown across most of the United States, NBCSN is throwing its at in the ring.

NBCSN to host four-night, iRacing Short Track Series

The network announced on Thursday morning that starting on Monday, April 6, they would be televising a series of races at short tracks, featuring NASCAR Cup Series drivers.

Each night will consist of six drivers racing in two timed races with the top two finishers advancing to the series finale on Thursday.

“We’re proud to continue our successful collaboration with iRacing and NASCAR, which began last year, to produce the NBC eSports Short Track iRacing Challenge,” Jeff Behnke, vice president, production, NASCAR on NBC and NBCSN, said in a release. “Thanks to all the drivers from the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series for joining in what should be four consecutive nights of entertainment and fun for all the great race fans and viewers.”

Rick Allen and Steve Letarte will be calling the action along with input from Jeff Burton and Marty Snider via Zoom, according to the release.

The races will begin at 7:00 p.m. ET each night and will be televised on NBCSN and the series is being tabbed as the NBC eSports Short Track iRacing Challenge.

“Of all of the events we’ve been putting together for real-world pros, the NBC eSports Short Track iRacing Challenge should be one of the most fun,” iRacing executive producer Steve Myers said. “So many of the top drivers in NASCAR have honed their skills on both local short tracks and iRacing, and combining the two for a virtual week-long showdown should deliver plenty of excitement. We can’t wait to see who takes the checkered flag and bragging rights!”
