As college basketball season winds to a close, racing season ramps up in Tennessee this weekend with a doubleheader leading up to Saturday’s Tennessee Tipoff.
The weekend will kick off with a $10,000-to-win night at Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, Tennessee on Friday night (Hot laps at 6:00 p.m. ET) – a track where Brandon Sheppard won last season.
WoO LM: Sheppard, Bloomquist face off in Tennessee Doubleheader
In seven races so far, Sheppard holds the points lead by 32 points over Darrell Lanigan, despite only capturing one win.
The other side of that, however, is that Sheppard has only one finish outside of the top five this season.
No matter how far back he starts – like 11th at Volusia – he has managed to power the Rocket1 Chassis car to the front of the pack by the checkered flag.
He’ll be going wheel-to-wheel with Scott Bloomquist this weekend though.
The leader behind Team Zero is a native at Tennessee and has done well at both tracks along with collecting a plethora of experience there in his career.
He started off the season well at Vado before the four-race weekend at Volusia, finishing the weekend with two top-five finishes, as well as a great overall team performance.
If anyone would be a threat to take down Sheppard this weekend, it would be Bloomquist & Co.
Saturday, the series will head to Maryville, Tennessee for a $12,000 to win feature event at Smoky Mountain Speedway. Hot laps are scheduled for 5:15 p.m. ET.
As always fans can catch every race of the season on DirtVision and follow along for live updates on our department Twitter account, @RacingVault.
