Donny Schatz reigns supreme as King of Eldora

Schatz reigns supreme

Donny Schatz and the No. 15 Tony Stewart Motorsports team has seen a plethora of recent success with trips to victory lane at the team owner’s Eldora Speedway.

Wednesday saw more of the same.

After starting P7 in the Dash, Schatz worked his way up to a fourth-place starting spot in the feature, and passed points leader Brad Sweet just before the halfway mark, taking the lead and holding it to the end.

Schatz effectively swept #LetsRaceTwo, since it was delayed on a make-up date from May.

It’s the second season in a row that Schatz has swept the event and it stands as his sixth victory in the nine races the track has held between this season and last.

The win moves the No. 15 team to just 30 points behind Sweet as he tries to regain the points lead.

If Schatz maintains the pace of success that he has set at Eldora, we could see a new points leader after Saturday’s Kings Royal.

David Gravel and Logan Schuchart were the runners up to Schatz, as they both try to maintain pace with the top two.

The Outlaws will return to the track for the preliminary night of the Kings Royal event in Thursday’s ‘Jokers Wild’ which will pay $10,000 to win. Hot laps will begin at 6:30 p.m. locally at the track.

Fans of the series can keep up with all of our Month of Money coverage at our headquarters page, by clicking here. It will be updated daily through the month.
