Does NASCAR’s Steve O’Donnell have a burner account on Twitter?

The thought of important figures in professional sports having separate accounts on various social media sites used to be crazy.

But, ever since Kevin Durant and Bryan Colangelo’s burner account stories surfaced over the past two summers over in the NBA, it seems to be a growing trend.

Even college football’s Shea Patterson was accused of accidentally tweeting something on his own account, one that he claimed was fake.

Now, the new way of dealing with our problems might have found its way to NASCAR with executive vice president and chief racing development officer, Steve O’Donnell.

Does NASCAR’s Steve O’Donnell have a burner account on Twitter?

An account that surfaced on June 10 has been frequently tweeting NASCAR fans and media members over the past month, particularly ones that its owner disagrees with.

The username of the account is @Ahhhhhhh85405959 which was similar to its name that has since been changed to “33 lead changes.” That’s a number that promotes the racing this past weekend in Kentucky.

The account has tweeted 209 times in the past month, but only two of those are not replies to someone else or retweets. That’s where the fun starts.

The tweets range from all kinds of varieties including a comparison of NASCAR and IndyCar,

run-ins with media members,

as well as criticisms.

On Wednesday night, however a fan on Twitter named Dillon Goodin made some connections between O’Donnell’s main account and the anonymous one.

The account in question currently has eight followers, and one of them is O’Donnell himself.

Now, O’Donnell follows a plethora of people. Nearly 2500 of them.

You just have to ask yourself why he would follow that specific account in the first place.

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series is back in action on Sunday at New Hampshire. The green flag is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. ET.
