Flavio Briatore: Ferrari Won’t Win The Constructors’ Title With Kimi Raikkonen

Controversial and legendary former team boss Flavio Briatore is sure that Scuderia Ferrari will not stand a chance in the Constructors’ Championship as long as Kimi Raikkonen remains as the second driver.

Briatore urged Ferrari to replace the Finnish driver with Monegasque Charles Leclerc. The Italian believes the younger driver will bring back Ferrari’s success in the team competition, and Raikkonen will not.

“Get Räikkönen out of his seat and give it to Leclerc. Otherwise, you will never win the Constructors’ Championship trophy. You have to take that risk,” Briatore said to Italian radio station Capital Radio.

Lewis Hamilton is stronger than Sebastian Vettel

Regarding the World Drivers’ Championship, Briatore did not doubt claiming that the 2018 championship is Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton‘s to lose. The Italian believes the English driver is stronger than Ferrari’s main card, Sebastian Vettel.

Briatore is confident in Hamilton’s synergy with his Mercedes W09. The Italian thinks Vettel does not control everything inside the SF71H cockpit.

“Hamilton is stronger than Vettel. Sebastian has to fight much harder to keep his car under control. Lewis has found his rhythm in the W09, and that makes it easier for him.”

Briatore does not trust Ferrari for the remainder of the season, even though the Maranello-based team is leading both championships currently.

He said: “Ferrari won in the last two races because Mercedes had bad luck, Ferrari has the chance to win again, but only if Lewis Hamilton makes mistakes.”
