Ferrari Chief Designer Simone Resta To Depart

Simone Resta led the design team of the current Ferrari Challenger, the SF71H. Ferrari has made a good start to the 2018 season winning the first two races. They are second in the constructors’ championship behind Mercedes.

Resta joined Ferrari in 2001. The Italian-born engineer was appointed Chief Designer before the 2015 season.

The Sauber team has announced that Simone Resta will be joining the team as Technical Director.

Last year Lorenzo Sassi, the head of the engine department, also left mid-season in a surprise move. He has since joined Mercedes.

The effect this departure will have on the in-season development of the Ferrari team will be watched with interest. Team Principal Maurizio Arrivabene and Chief Technical Officer Mattia Binotto are yet to comment on this significant personnel change at Maranello.
