This weekend NASCAR visits the Monster Mile at Dover International Speedway. Jeff Gordon, the four-time NASCAR Cup champion, will be honored with a marquee plaque on the Monster Monument at Victory Plaza.

Jeff Gordon to be Honored at Dover this Weekend

Gordon who was NASCAR’s most successful driver during the very successful (notice I didn’t say “Good ole days”) of the 1990s and 2000s, will become just the fourth driver honored with a Monster Monument marquee plaque. The other drivers honored by the track are Bobby Allison, David Pearson and Richard Petty. Pretty good company indeed.

Gordon, whose primary sponsor for most of his career was Dupont which has its headquarters in Delaware, won five times at the Monster Mile. Only Jimmie Johnson (11), Richard Petty (7), and Bobby Allison (7) have more victories at Dover.

Dover International Speedway President and CEO, Mike Tatoian and Motor Racing Networks (MRN) will host the event on Saturday, May 5, 2018.

“Jeff provided millions of NASCAR fans, both at Dover and across the country, with plenty of thrills and excitement during his incredible career,” Tatoian said. “Only the best drivers in the sport have their names on the Monster Monument, and only the best of the best receive the honor of a marquee plaque. Jeff has certainly earned his place among that group.”

Gordon now works as a broadcaster for Fox Sports and will be in the booth this weekend for the AAA 400 Drive for Autism Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Dover Sunday, May 6th, 2018.
