Ryen Russillo Moves Podcast To Barstool Sports

Ryen Russillo Moves Podcast To Barstool Sports

Longtime sports media personality Ryen Russillo is joining Barstool Sports with a new podcast called, The Ryen Russillo Show. It is the same name as the show he hosted previously on ESPN Radio until 2017.

Russillo’s new show with Barstool Sports will debut on November 3. Previously, Russillo hosted The Ryen Russillo Podcast for The Ringer. In a video posted to his X account, Russillo stated that Spotify (the parent company who owns The Ringer) would not allow him to take his IP over to Barstool Sports for his new show. This has forced Russillo to start a new podcast feed, not letting him bring over his subscribers from his previous show.

Portnoy sounds off

Barstool Sports President Dave Portnoy voiced his displeasure with Spotify on not allowing Russillo to keep the IP, but was understanding of why they made the decision.

Russillo also revealed that producers Steve Ceruti and Kyle Crichton will be making the move, joining him for his new show at Barstool Sports. Ceruti previously worked on The Bill Simmons Podcast and was a co-host of The Ringer Soccer Show. He was also The Ringer’s senior podcast manager. Crichton, also previously produced The Bill Simmons Podcast and is the nephew of Bill Simmons.

After leaving ESPN, Russillo spent six years at The Ringer, which was his first role since leaving the worldwide leader. Russillo was very gracious when he recently discussed his exit from The Ringer and Spotify.

Russillo’s next chapter

“Leaving ESPN and feeling like you’re kind of starting over and wondering, ‘hey am I ever going to be one of those guys? Am I ever going to be like one of those guys? Am I going to be somebody who’s got enough juice to like figure out a way to carve out?’” Russillo said.

He added, “I would look at the people I was friends with. I would look at the people that were older than me — now I feel like I’m older than people — but that was definitely a time where I was just ready for a change. And it feels kind of cool now because I feel the exact same way. So thank you to the audience because, again, none of this happens without you responding, whether it was stuff at ESPN and and then cranking it up to another level here with Spotify and Ringer.”

What to expect from Russillo’s new show

Russillo’s new podcast feed describes the show as, “Same Russillo, just with a fresh coat of paint. You’ll still get the sports talk, the random stories, and the guests you already love plus some new ones too. And yes, Kyle and Ceruti are still here for Life Advice—because who doesn’t need a little help from their friends?”

The Ryen Russillo Show is set to debut on all podcast platforms beginning on November 3, with new episodes out every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
