Fox Adds Drew Brees To Commentary Lineup

Fox To Add Drew Brees To Commentary Lineup

Fox Sports had added another legendary quarterback to its roster of NFL commentators.  According to Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, former Chargers and Saints quarterback Drew Brees has agreed to a multi-year deal, and will be paired with Adam Amin for Sunday NFL games on the network.

According to Marchand, Brees would likely take the place of Mark Sanchez, who has been off the air after being arrested last month following a fight that left him in the hospital.

Drew Brees Left NBC After Just One Season

Brees worked as an analyst for NBC in 2021 after retiring, but lasted just one season with the network, leaving after a rough outing in the booth during a playoff game.  He worked as the game analyst for the international feed of the NFL’s Christmas Day game on Netflix in 2024, and is slated to work the domestic feed of this year’s game.

According to Marchand, Fox had pursued Brees when he first retired after the 2020 season, with the plan of making him the network’s number two color analyst.  Greg Olson at the time was expected to take the number one role, but that decision changed when Fox was able to sign former Patriots and Bucs quarterback Tom Brady.

Marchand reports that Brees’ first assignment will come on November 16, and that he is expected to call games through at least next season.

Amin had been paired with Sanchez to call regional games on Fox, but was working with Olson on the number 2 team with Fox while Olson’s usual partner, Joe Davis, was working the Major League Baseball Playoffs on the network.

Brees and Amin have to wait until next week to start, as Amin is slated to call the NFL’s international game in Berlin this week with Kurt Warner on the NFL Network.
