Cam Davis Says He’s Ready To Pack It In For The Season

With the playoffs for the FedEx Cup just around the corner, the final top 70 list has filled out, and there is now a set group for the St Jude Championship.  This list is filled with some of the best that the PGA can offer.  Notable names like Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy are at the top of the list, despite the ladder not going to the first event.  There are some surprise entries like Aldrich Portgieter, who sits at number 43, and this is still his rookie year for the PGA Tour.  There have been a lot of blood, sweat, and tears that the players have shed to get onto this list.  However, one player is feeling rather demotivated.  Cam Davis has admitted that he is looking forward to some downtime between seasons after 2025.

2025 For Cam Davis

Davis has had a rough 2025 season.  Missing the cut in half the events he has played in, and only making the top ten once, he didn’t have much going for himself.  However, it wasn’t for lack of trying.  He attended twenty-two events.  Nearly all the events that were available to him, even attending three of the majors.  He didn’t attend the Open, although he did attend the Barracuda Championship.  Not a single win, and in the majors, he found himself close to the bottom of the list.

Davis Ready To Pack It In For The Year

In an interview, Davis has described how he put his heart into this season.  Working as hard as he can to improve his game, only to make it into the top 70 list barely.

“I feel tired,” Davis said. “I’ve pushed really hard for the last few months, and it’s not led to any better golf. I’ve had a couple of little bright moments, but you can probably count on one hand since April.  So I’m almost pretty much ready to put the clubs away for a little bit and just rest my brain and work on that as well, because I would say that more than anything else has been the thing that I’ve found the hardest to get on top of.  Yeah, either way, whether I get to play next week or not, I’m looking forward to the time after that where I can put my feet up.”

A sentiment that many people sick emphasize with, putting all the work in one can possibly do, only to barely squeak by.

The St Jude Championship

The St Jude Championship is only for the top 70 players.  The next event, the BMW Championship, is only for the top 50.  It is very much possible that Cam Davis can be eliminated by the end of the tournament, and he is aware of that.  At this point in the season, it is very unlikely that he can turn things around for himself.  Which is why he is looking forward to some downtime.  As Davis said, he is tired; he worked hard for the sport, and now he is ready to just relax.  Maybe he can turn things around next season. This one might have been a bust for him, but there’s always next year.
