McIlroy, Scheffler, and the Full List of FedExCup Playoff Qualifiers

The PGA Tour’s 2025 regular season is complete, and the race for the FedExCup Playoffs is officially on. The top 70 players in the standings have earned their place in the first playoff event — the FedEx St. Jude Championship, which begins this week in Memphis.

Scheffler Leads The Way as McIlroy Pulls Out

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler has enjoyed an impressive season so far and sits at the top of the standings with 4,806 points. He enters the playoffs as the clear favorite after a string of consistent performances, including two major wins this year. However, Rory McIlroy is not far behind, finishing second in the standings with 3,444 points. Despite qualifying, McIlroy has decided to skip this week’s event but remains safely positioned to move on to the next round of the playoffs.

The FedExCup Playoffs are made up of three events. First, the top 70 players from the regular season compete in the FedEx St. Jude Championship. After this event, only the top 50 in the standings will advance to the BMW Championship. From there, the top 30 will move on to the final event: the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.

This year, the PGA Tour has altered the format for the Tour Championship. Instead of players starting with staggered scores based on their points, all 30 players will begin at even par. That means everyone has the same chance to win the FedExCup and its $10 million prize.
