Scarecrow Course: Tradition Connects Generations

In the world of golf there seems to always be something new always in formation, whether it’s a new face within the Tour or big time news. The most recent splash in the golfing industry has been surrounded around Gamble Sands. A next level opportunity for golfers around the world, to showcase their skills on courses leaning towards their personal game. Designer David McLay-Kidd has got his hands on the second course at Gamble Sands, an 18-hole course named Scarecrow. Though not opening to the public until August 1st, the course is making its way around the Tour and beyond.

Scarecrow Yet Welcoming

This newly created golf destination is cooking

up to be a can’t miss by all means. Coming as the second course created at the hands of McLay-Kidd, and his design partner Nick Schaan. Views of the Columbia River is an automatic eye grabbing sight, while taking in the everlasting landscape.

According to reports, Scarecrow’s fairways offer similar width to that found on the first course at Gamble Sands. While another point being the greens at Scarecrow, and them showing slightly smaller than those on its sister course. The bunkering is also unique to the site, play-ability and being able to perform at any level remains key.

Following the footsteps of the Gamble Sands course, which ranks within Golf’s Magazine’s listed top 100 golf courses in the United States. A few prominent names within the sport have already gotten a sneak peak, and have been describing it as “loaded with trap doors and secret strategies.”

Respects To The Region

As many golf courses have rich history intertwined in the landscape, Scarecrow offers that and more. As the first created course is named after a reported longtime farming family, they continued the tradition in respects. Other names came in spurts of ideas like Old Cob (a reference to corn-growing) and The Deer Farm (an allusion to a bygone local reindeer breeder).

As other design teams like TGR Design also put their hands in things, designs like the Scarecrow course compete in a lane of their own.
