Shocking New Footage Unveils Hurricane Havoc at Augusta National

A newly surfaced video shows the extent of the damage Hurricane Helene caused to the iconic Augusta National Golf Club. The footage, recorded after the storm passed through Georgia last September, reveals flooding across parts of the course and significant alterations to the famous Amen Corner. It also captures severe damage near the 11th and 12th holes—two of the most historic and recognizable areas at Augusta.

Video Shows Damage To Augusta National Landmark

The video, which recently resurfaced online, shows Rae’s Creek overflowing its banks, with water rushing across the 12th green and flooding the fairway of the 11th hole. Large sections of the course appear muddy, with tree roots exposed and walking paths washed out. Viewers spotted debris and damaged trees near key landmarks like the Hogan Bridge, which players cross during the Masters.

Although Augusta National typically maintains pristine beauty and strict privacy, the storm’s aftermath offered fans a rare, unfiltered look at the course in distress. While some believed the footage was new, reports indicate someone recorded it during or shortly after Hurricane Helene’s impact in late 2024. However, some local sources claim summer rainstorms during ongoing maintenance may have also caused the damage..

Hurricane Helene brought high winds and heavy rains to the Augusta area, knocking down trees and flooding parts of the region. The storm knocked down more than 1,500 trees at the golf club, including several that lined the famous Magnolia Lane. One fallen tree damaged a bridge on the course, while others tore up the ground near Amen Corner—one of the most iconic three-hole stretches in all of golf.

Course Restored In Time For Masters After Hurricane Helene

Despite the shocking visuals, Augusta National quickly began repairs. In a statement made months later, club chairman Fred Ridley said the storm caused “significant” damage, but praised the team that restored the course in time for the 2025 Masters. Over 200 staff and contractors worked around the clock to clear trees, repair greens, and fix bridges.

Severely damaged homes are seen from a neighborhood near Augusta National Golf Club, seven days after Hurricane Helene struck, Saturday, October 5, 2024 in Augusta, Ga.

The 11th, 12th, and 13th holes, collectively known as Amen Corner, were the most affected. During the storm, Rae’s Creek flooded its banks, and the gentle stream turned into a fast-moving current. Parts of the 12th green were buried under water and mud. Photos and videos taken by drones and phones showed damage that shocked golf fans. Even though the team fully restored the course before the Masters, some long-time fans noticed subtle differences. The storm cleared out many trees, and course adjustments revealed new sightlines on some holes.

While the storm didn’t completely destroy any landmark, it flooded Amen Corner in what many consider one of the most serious weather events in the club’s history. And although crews repaired the damage, the storm’s impact still lingers in the memories of fans and players alike.
