Collin Morikawa has made another caddie change as he prepares for the Scottish swing of the PGA Tour. The two-time major winner has turned to experienced caddie Billy Foster for support during the upcoming Genesis Scottish Open and The Open Championship. This move is the latest in Morikawa’s ongoing search for a long-term caddie after parting ways with J.J. Jakovac earlier this year.
Morikawa Turns to Experienced Billy Foster
Billy Foster brings decades of experience to Morikawa. The veteran English caddie has walked the fairways alongside some of the greatest players in golf history. His past clients include Seve Ballesteros, Lee Westwood, Darren Clarke, and Matt Fitzpatrick. Most recently, Foster played a key role in helping Fitzpatrick win his first major title at the 2022 U.S. Open.

Morikawa has struggled to find stability with his caddie situation this year since he ended his long partnership with J.J. Jakovac in April. The pair worked together for six years, and Morikawa won two major titles during that period.
After the split with Jakovac, Morikawa hired Joe Greiner. Greiner had worked with Max Homa and was well respected on Tour. But the new partnership did not last long. After only five events, Morikawa decided to move in a different direction. He explained that the chemistry was not right, and both parties agreed to part ways.
Morikawa then turned to an old friend, KK Limbhasut, for help. Limbhasut was his college teammate at the University of California. He stepped in for the Rocket Mortgage Classic, but that arrangement was always temporary. Morikawa hopes that Foster’s experience can help him during an important stretch of the season.

Caddie Situation Far From Resolved
It is understood that the arrangement between Morikawa and Foster is only set for these two tournaments in Europe. However, it could prove to be a vital trial period for both. With two of the biggest events of the season lined up back-to-back, Morikawa knows the importance of having an experienced and reliable presence on the bag.

Morikawa’s caddie situation has been one of the hot topics on Tour this season but the 28-year-old has been clear about the type of caddie relationship he wants. For him, it’s not just about carrying the clubs but building trust, communication, and confidence. He has compared the player-caddie bond to a close friendship, one where both sides must feel comfortable and understand each other under the intense pressure of tournament golf.
While the agreement with Foster is only for these two weeks, the possibility of a longer-term partnership remains open. But if things don’t go according to plan, then it’s likely that the American could be looking for a new caddie again soon.
