Bryson DeChambeau Emerges as Early Favorite for PGA Championship

Quail Hollow Club is set to host the second golf major of the year as golfers prepare to do battle for the 2025 PGA Championship. Xander Schauffele is the defending champion of the tournament, and he will be in contention to defend his crown. However, Bryson DeChambeau has emerged as the early favorite to win the Wanamaker Trophy ahead of Masters winner Rory McIlroy and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler after a strong start to the season.

Odds Favor DeChambeau Ahead of PGA Championship

All the odds appear to be in Bryson DeChambeau’s favor after he emerged as a popular pick with the public to win his first-ever PGA Championship. The 31-year-old has been in impressive form in recent times and emerged victorious for the second time at the U.S. Open last year. He then came a close second to Xander Schauffele in last year’s PGA Championship. DeChambeau also had a great start to the Masters last month, but his form faded on the final day.

DeChambeau is LIV’s best golfer, and he will be buoyed by his win in Korea on the breakaway tour earlier this month. The 31-year-old started Monday at +1200 at DraftKings; however, those odds fell to +950 by midday, with the public backing him with 27 percent of the money placed on the winner at the PGA Championship this week.

DeChambeau has achieved significant success in majors since he joined LIV. In addition to winning last year’s U.S. Open, he finished tied for fifth at last month’s Masters. Quail Hollow is likely to be softened by heavy rain forecast early in the week, and DeChambeau’s length off the tee is expected to be a significant weapon in his quest to win his first PGA Championship.

Scheffler, McIlroy Ahead of the Pack in Race For PGA Championship

While DeChambeau is comfortably the early favorite to secure the PGA Championship, Scheffler is second with 23 percent of the money bets placed to win. He sits ahead of McIlroy in third with 14 percent. The trio is well in front of the pack as the tournament gets set for kickoff.

Scheffler recorded his first victory of 2025 at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson two weeks ago and will be looking to win his first PGA Championship after finishing with a T2 in 2023. McIlroy, on the other hand, has won two PGA Championships. In fact, the Northern Irishman won the first-ever PGA Tour title of his career at Quail Hollow in 2010. The 36-year-old also won the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow in 2015, before repeating the trick in 2021 and 2024. He enters this week as the only three-time winner on tour in 2025.
