It was a big weekend for Stanford both on the field and in the awards process. The Cardinal have struggled in their initial ACC season. So when they got a last-second win over Louisville last weekend, they got the due recognition for it. And with only a couple of weeks left in the regular season, not a moment to late to get some names in the ACC Players of the Week for Week 12.
Quarterback of the Week
Ashton Daniels of Stanford is one of a few Cardinal players on the list this week. He led Stanford to the 38-35 upset over 19th-ranked Louisville. Daniels was 22 of 33 passing for 298 yards. He threw for three touchdowns. Both the passing yards and the touchdowns were career-highs for Daniels.
Running Back of the Week
North Carolina’s Omarion Hampton had a huge night against Wake Forest. He had 35 carries for 244 yards and a touchdown. He also had five catches for 16 yards. In the first half, Hampton had more rushing yards than Wake Forest had total yards on offense. He is now the first UNC running back to rush for 100+ yards in eight straight games.
Receiver of the Week
We go back to Stanford for Emmett Mosley V. In the upset win over Louisville, Mosley had 13 receptions for 168 yards and three touchdowns. The 168 receiving yards are the third most for a true freshman in Stanford history. The numbers were also good enough for Mosley to be named the ACC Rookie of the week.
Offensive Lineman of the Week
Syracuse’s Savion Washington played 80 offensive snaps in the win at California. He led an offensive line that helped the Orange score on seven of their nine offensive possessions. He had a 90% pass-blocking grade and an 88% run-blocking grade.
Defensive Lineman of the Week
T.J. Parker, the defensive end from Clemson tied the school record with four sacks in the win over Pitt. Parker also had seven tackles, a pass breakup, and a forced fumble. Of his tackle totals, five were for a loss. That is the most by a Clemson player since 2017.
Linebacker of the Week
SMU’s Kobe Wilson had a career-high 16 tackles in the Mustangs’ win over Boston College. He also had a sack and a pass breakup. The 16 tackles were the most by an SMU player since 2013.
Defensive Back of the Week
Virginia safety Jonas Sanker had a career-high 13 tackles, (eight were solo), in the loss to Notre Dame. Of the 13 tackles, two were for a loss. He also had a fumble recovery on special teams. Sanker now has four games this season with double digits in tackles.
Specialist of the Week
One final nod this week for Stanford. Placekicker Emmet Kenney hit a 52-yard field goal on the last play of the game to secure the win over Louisville. It was Kenney’s second game-winning field goal of the year.
