Noreel White Becomes Newest Ole Miss Signee

Four-star athlete Noreel White has officially signed with Ole Miss. Can the "do it all" prospect provide an immediate impact in Oxford?

Ocean Springs, MS native Noreel White has become the latest addition to Ole Miss’ 2024 recruiting class. White, out of St. Martin High School, originally gave his verbal commitment to the Rebels in late August. Before that, he had spent time as an Arkansas commit. He also held offers from LSU, Auburn, and Mississippi State, among others.

The four-star wide receiver finished his senior season ranked just outside the top 300 players in the nation, according to 247Sports composite rankings. However, he does find himself as the 11th-ranked player in the state of Mississippi. White’s signing plays a key part in why Ole Miss finds itself with a Top 25 recruiting class for this cycle.

High School Career

In his time at St. Martin, White was utilized on both sides of the football. He also got used in the special teams department. As a junior, he totaled well over 1,000 yards of total offense. For good measure, he put together 13 touchdowns, as well. On the defensive side, he intercepted two passes.

While his senior season stats haven’t been posted, he did enough to be named to the annual MS/AL All-Star Game. During that game, he played alongside fellow Rebel commit Anthony Maddux. With Maddux at the quarterback position, they could be a duo for Ole Miss fans to get used to soon.

What Does White Bring to Oxford?

At 6’0″ and 185 pounds, White isn’t a big body. While he can play both sides of the ball, it’s a virtual guarantee that he ends up playing offense for the Rebels. With his frame, and doubts about the ability for him to put on much more weight, don’t expect to see him as a wideout. However, he can have a near-immediate impact coming out of the slot.

While he doesn’t post elite speed, his acceleration and quickness are something to note. He’s also a guy with good hands who doesn’t drop many passes. This quickness, ability to change directions, and his sure hands should see him have success as an intermediate route runner. The good news is that the Rebels are returning Tre Harris and bringing in Deion Smith. With those two guys as deep threats, White is exactly what they need.

White won’t be an every-down receiver as a freshman but will have the chance to see plenty of playing time. He’ll also see snaps on special teams.

So while there’s no clear-cut role, he’s more of a “one size fits all” prospect. This ability to plug him into different roles is sure to be an advantage for the Rebels for years to come.
