The regular season has now come to a close. Now, the question remains who made the biggest impression and who was the most consistent player in America this season? Part of the determination for this award has always been, is it the most valuable player or the best player on the best team? We’ll dive into that and more as we break down the contenders in our 2022 Final Heisman rankings.
It appears to be a battle between Caleb Williams and Max Duggan whose teams incidentally both took a loss in Championship weekend for their respective teams. Williams has the statistical edge, while Duggan likely wins the emotional support. C.J. Stroud nor Bryce Young will win this award, but as they move on to the NFL after the bowl season they have both been a mainstay in these rankings over the last two seasons. With that, let’s take a look as we unveil our 2022 Final Heisman rankings.

Top Five Candidates
1. Max Duggan
QB | TCU Next Game: 12/31 vs Michigan
Duggan did everything humanly possible to will his team to a Big 12 Championship win over Kansas State. However, much like his Heisman counterpart across the country, he came up just a little short. He had nearly an identical stat line to Williams with 361 yards of total offense. But, he picked up a lot of moral support throughout the game for putting his team on his back. The question remains is if his stats are good enough to come away with the hardware.

2. Caleb Williams
QB | USC Next Game: 1/2 vs Tulane
A close game throughout turned into a blowout loss late and eventually knocked USC out of the playoff race. And, with that, knocked Williams into the second place spot in our final Heisman rankings. Williams still threw for 363 yards and three touchdowns in the loss, but an interception in Utah territory proved costly. However, did Williams do enough late in the season to come away with the award?

3. Hendon Hooker
QB | Tennessee Next Game: 12/30 vs Clemson
It was a tough ending to the season for Hooker. Not only did he get hurt against South Carolina late in the year. It was Stetson Bennet and not Hooker that received the invite for the Heisman ceremony. It seems a bit unfortunate that a kid with over 11,000 yards from scrimmage and over 100 touchdowns responsible for in his career was not afforded the opportunity to be a Heisman finalist for his final season wearing the orange and white.

4. C.J. Stroud
QB | Ohio State Next Game: 12/31 vs Georgia
Different year, the same result as the Buckeye’s regular season ended with a disappointing loss to rival Michigan. Even though he threw for 349 yards in the game, the two interceptions were crucial. Stroud has thrown for 81 touchdowns in just two seasons as the starter in Columbus. The Buckeyes will hope for some luck and await their fate, but Stroud likely will need some help to get back in the Heisman front-runner position.

5. Blake Corum
RB | Michigan Next Game: 12/31 vs TCU
Unfortunately, Corum was not able to be his normal self and only had two carries for six yards against Ohio State on Saturday. This week it was announced that he would have season-ending surgery to repair his knee. However, that doesn’t take anything away from Corum as one of the most consistent running backs in the country with over 1,500 yards from scrimmage and 19 touchdowns.
