Football Friday Tailgate Treats: Super Easy Sliders

Happy Football Friday. This week we are slipping and sliding into SLIDERS. But first of all, did you save last week’s Tailgate Treats “Wonton Cups“?  Tailgating is always fun it isn’t always fun trying to figure out what to cook every weekend.  This week these slider recipes are easy to make and bake them in a disposable pan you have little clean-up and nothing to transport home. WIN WIN WIN. Did you know they have approximately 85,000 breakfast sliders? I didn’t.  I picked a variety of sliders for all tastes and tailgate times. Enjoy!

Football Friday Tailgate Treats: Super Easy Sliders

Ingredients:

  • Cooking spray, for pan
  • 10 mini bagels, halved
  • eggs
  • 1/4 c. milk
  • slices of bacon or sausage
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • kosher salt
  • 4 tbsp. cream cheese softened
  • 1 1/2 c.shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 3 tbsp. butter, melted
  • 3 tbsp. Everything But The Bagel Seasoning
  • OR if you don’t have that you can make your own
  • 2 tsp.dried onion
  • 2 tsp. granulated garlic
  • 2 tsp. sesame seeds
  • 2 tsp. poppy seeds

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350° and grease a large baking dish with cooking spray. In a large bowl, beat eggs and milk until light and frothy. Set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until crispy. Remove slices from the pan to drain on paper towels. Pour out most of the bacon/sausage fat but leave about 1 tablespoon in the skillet.
  3. Pour the egg mixture into the skillet then immediately turn down the heat to medium-low. Stir occasionally with a spatula or wooden spoon. When the eggs are nearly set, season with salt and pepper and stir in chives. Remove from heat.
  4. Spread cream cheese onto the bottom halves of the bagels then place in the greased baking dish, side by side. Spread egg mixture over bagels then crumbles cooked bacon/sausage on top.
  5. Sprinkle with cheddar then add the bagel tops. Brush with bagel tops with melted butter and sprinkle with dried onion, granulated garlic, sesame seeds, and poppy seeds.
  6. Bake until the bagels are toasty and the cheese has melted about 10 minutes. Serve warm.

Cheeseburger Sliders

Ingredients:

For the Cheeseburgers:

  • 2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ white onion diced
  • 12 Borden Cheese Snack Barsin your flavor of choice
  • 12 Hawaiian Roll Sliders one package

Glaze:

  • 1/4 cup butter melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 3 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions: 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F
  2. Combine the beef and spices in a bowl. Press the beef into the bottom of a 9 x 13-inch baking dish into a flat and even layer. Bake for 20 minutes. Drain the liquid and set it aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium/high heat add the olive oil. Add in the diced onion and stir to coat. Cook until the onion is translucent and fragrant. Drain excess oil FULLY and set aside.
  4. Slice the rolls in half lengthwise. Place the bottom half in the same baking dish.
  5. Top the bottom half of the rolls with the cooked beef, then the onions, then slices of cheese in a single layer. Top with the top half of the rolls.
  6. In a small bowl combine the melted butter and all other ingredients for the butter topping. (optional, see note)
  7. Brush the tops of the rolls liberally with melted butter (or pour it over) mixture and sprinkle the sesame seeds on top. Bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until the bread is toasted and the cheese is melty.
  8. Slice into individual sliders and serve hot

Easy Meatball Sliders

Ingredients: 

  • 12 oz. Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 tsp. garlic salt
  • 16 oz. frozen Italian meatballs (larger size works well so there is one per slider)
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 6 slices mozzarella cheese slices

Instructions: 

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Line a 9×13 pan with foil.
  2. Prepare meatballs according to package instructions. (Can be done anyway, they just need to be cooked and hot.)
  3. Keeping the buns intact, cut Hawaiian rolls in half lengthwise carefully so they stay together.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together melted butter and garlic salt.
  5. Place one meatball onto each bun section of the sweet rolls. Top with marinara sauce and layer with cheese slices so they cover the whole bottom section.
  6. Top with top bun section and brush with garlic butter.
  7. Bake sliders for 13-16 minutes, or until cheese is melted and buns are golden brown.

Shredded Chicken Sliders 

Ingredients: 

  • 2 packages 12 pack Kings Hawaiian Rolls
  • 3 cups shredded chicken
  • 12 slices provolone cheese
  • 1/4 cup butter melted
  • 4 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp poppy seeds

Instructions: 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350˚F.
  2. Cut each of the Hawaiian rolls in half across the length of the rolls and then place the bottoms in a 9×13 baking dish.
  3. Layer the chicken and cheese on top of the rolls and then place the top back on.  Use a serrated knife to cut in between all of the rolls.
  4. Mix the melted butter, mustard, sugar, and poppy seeds until combined.  Then use a pastry brush to spread the mixture evenly over the tops of the rolls.
  5. Bake on the middle rack for 20 minutes or until the tops of the rolls are golden brown.  Serve hot and enjoy!

Pizza Sliders 

Ingredients:

For the sliders:

  • 1 package (12) dinner rolls
  • ¾ cup pizza sauce
  • 12 slices of mozzarella cheese
  • 45 slices pepperoni
  • ½ cup cooked & crumbled sausage

For the herb butter topping:

  • ½ cup butter, melted (1 stick)
  • 1 Tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 Tablespoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350f degrees. Spray the bottom of a 9×13 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Slice the rolls horizontally (while still attached) to make a top and bottom bun.
  3. Place bottom bun into prepared baking dish. Spread pizza sauce onto rolls.
  4. Next, add 6 slices of cheese (covering all of the pizza sauce.)
  5. On top of the cheese layer, add all the slices of pepperoni.
  6. Sprinkle the top of the pepperoni with crumbled sausage.
  7. Add the remaining 6 slices of cheese on top.
  8. Then cover all of it with the top bun.
  9. Make the seasoned buttery topping. Combine all the ingredients in a small bowl and stir well.
  10. Then, using a brush (or a spoon) spread topping all over the sliders. Be sure to get the sides too!
  11. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for about 15 minutes.
