Quarterback Connor Weigman Signs with Texas A&M

Aggies Recruiting Class

Quarterback Connor Weigman has signed with the Texas A&M Aggies in the early national period. He is ranked as the second-best quarterback and the No. 19 overall recruit in the 2022 class. He received a 0.9901 composite rating by 247Sports, and he is one of Texas A&M’s four five-star recruits. Learn more about this highly talented quarterback prospect from Cypress, TX.

Who is Connor Weigman?

High school senior Connor Weigman is the starting quarterback at Bridgeland High School. In fact, he was one of Texas A&M’s earliest commitments from the 2022 class. He committed back in February of 2021 before his official visit. While Weigman received full scholarship offers from many other Division I schools, the Aggies secured him early thanks to offensive coordinator Darrell Dickey.

How does Connor Weigman help Texas A&M?

Weigman stands at 6-2 and weighs 208 pounds. He has a good build and stature for the quarterback position. He was selected to the Under Armour All-America game, and he was part of the roster for the Elite 11 Finals. Like Kyler Murray, Weigman is a multi-sport athlete who was also an elite baseball prospect.

Next season, Haynes King and Zach Calzada will likely battle for the starting quarterback position. Weigman will have a year to develop under Jimbo Fisher and Darrell Dickey before Weigman gets his opportunity to be under the helm. Stability at the quarterback position is crucial for the Aggies, and they have learned just that from the 2021 season. Weigman is a good option for backup in case of injury, and he will quickly improve as a passer due to his high potential.

Weigman also brings another element to Texas A&M’s offense with his scrambling ability. He is similar to Johnny Manziel in that Weigman is capable of big-play speed as a runner, and he likes to make some dangerous throws. Jimbo Fisher will need to eliminate the gambling aspect of Weigman’s game to make him more composed as a Division 1 quarterback.

Texas A&M’s stellar 2022 recruiting class should give Weigman plenty of skill players when he becomes the starting quarterback down the road. All in all, Weigman is a great pickup to the Aggies; he can lead them to both an SEC and National Championship.
