Clint Stephens Signs With UCLA

Among the bevy of four-star recruits in Chip Kelly’s 2022 signing class is an elite athlete from Inglewood High School in Southern California. Clint Stephens signs with UCLA, giving the Bruins a signee with versatility.

Stephens is listed as a 6-1, 188-pound athlete. He has played both safety at cornerback in high school, as well as wide receiver. The 247Sports Composite has him ranked as the 18th athlete in the country.

He is also a high school teammate of Justyn Martin, UCLA’s new quarterback commit.

Stephens committed back in May, saying he wanted to get the process done before going into his final football season at Inglewood. UCLA defensive back coach Brian Norwood was the lead for the Bruins in the recruiting process.

He had 20 scholarship offers, but ultimately it came down to UCLA, USC, Oregon, and Utah. With UCLA potentially losing all of its starters in the defensive backfield, as well as some regulars, Stephens is likely to settle in as a DB with a chance to get some early snaps during the season.

The game films on him show good ball instincts, good range in the defensive backfield. He has good ball instincts and can cover a lot of ground, and is good in open space. With his height, it would be preferable to see him fill out his frame a little. The feedback from the camps came back that he was a very hard worker. The additional bulk may not be too much to ask from him.

He has been invited to the All American Bowl for high school football standouts.
