Oklahoma Adds Transfer Wanya Morris

Oklahoma Adds Transfer Wanya Morris

After missing out on a couple of prized recruits in the 2021 class, Oklahoma adds transfer Wanya Morris from Tennessee.  Morris selected Oklahoma over Texas A&M and USC.

Morris is an elite level tackle and a big addition to offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh’s unit. He was a 5-star recruit on the 247Sports Composite in the 2019 class. He is the top-ranked offensive tackle currently residing in the 2021 transfer portal.

Oklahoma was in the mix for Morris in the 2019 class but just missed out as he committed to the Volunteers. In 2019, Morris appeared in all 13 games and made 12 starts. This season, he was a preseason All-SEC second-round selection by the coaches. On the field, he appeared in nine games and made seven starts. He will bring valuable experience to the Sooners offensive line who will be replacing two starters.

The Sooners are primed for another playoff run with some pundits having Oklahoma as a preseason number two selection. However, Creed Humphrey and Adrian Ealy have declared for the NFL draft. Morris will likely take over the left tackle position next season. That move would allow Erik Swenson or Anton Harrison to move to right tackle. UCLA transfer Chris Murray looks poised to take over the center position.
