After two years of pursuing him, Miami finally got their guy at quarterback. Jake Garcia is officially a Hurricane. Head coach Manny Diaz has sought after Garcia , from Southern California, for almost two years. It’s paid off with his signature. Garcia ranks as the fifth ranked pro style quarterback in the nation according to 247 Sports and the 46th ranked player nationally. The southern California native moved to Georgia prior to the beginning of his senior season due to California delaying sports. Currently, Garcia is leading Grayson high school in the playoffs and a top five high school ranking according to MaxPreps.

The Hurricanes remained consistent pursuing Garcia, from the coaching staff to the fans that created a hashtag for the quarterback. Before finally deciding on joining the Hurricanes, Garcia was long committed to the USC Trojans. First year offensive coordinator, Rhett Lashlee picked up the recruitment of Garcia and established a good relationship.
This signing gives Miami another quarterback that could possibly lead the team in the years to come if D’Eriq King decides to head to the NFL. If that so happens to be this season, Garcia enters a quarterback battle where he could possibly start from day one. This would mean that the Hurricanes could possibly have Garcia as the starter against Alabama next season.
