Elijah Roberts Signs With The Hurricanes

Manny Diaz’s defensive line is adding another standout in Elijah Roberts, the strongside defensive end from Columbus High School. The addition of Roberts on the defensive line helps the Hurricanes after losing production to the NFL Draft and graduation. Roberts’ size at 6’3 267 pounds allows him to potentially move inside later on in his career if needed.

He is rated as a top 15 player at his position according to 247Sports and one of the top defensive linemen in Florida. Roberts finished a very productive high school career helping his team win the school’s first state title ever. In addition to football, Roberts also plays basketball and track. The Hurricanes signing of Roberts gives Miami a win in recruitment over SEC programs like Florida and South Carolina. Although the Columbus product will sign early, he is expected to enroll in the summer.

Diaz emphasized adding more youth to his defensive line as the Hurricanes have signed five defensive linemen this recruiting class. Defensive line coach Todd Stroud coached with Diaz at North Carolina State when Mario Williams was the top overall pick in the NFL Draft.
