Three Burning Questions For Georgia

Three Burning Georgia Questions

The Georgia Bulldogs are coming off their biggest win of the season over rival Florida. The Bulldogs debuted at number six in the College Football Playoff Rankings after their big 36-17 victory, but the win does not mean this team does not have any questions. Georgia has several questions that have been answered for now or will be answered soon.

Has Jake Fromm settled the Quarterback Debate?

Jake Fromm’s position as the starting quarterback for Georgia came into question after the embarrassing loss at LSU. Fans even began to spread rumors about Justin Fields being unhappy in the locker room and demanding to play. Even though that is a reach, Fromm needed to come out at Florida and cement his place as the starter because Fields was no doubt ready to go. Fromm answered the bell with a 17/24, 240-yard three touchdown game. The numbers may not tell the whole story, but this was one of the best games of Fromm’s career. It is no secret that he has struggled on third and long this season, but Florida was a different story. All three of Fromm’s touchdown passes came on third down. He also essentially saved the game with an absolute strike to Riley Ridley on 3rd and 11 with six minutes left in the game and only ahead by a touchdown. Fields will do great things one day, but this is Fromm’s team until further notice.

Is Swift finally healthy?

D’Andre Swift came into the season with high expectations. He even had high odds of winning the Heisman and being looked at as the next great Georgia running back. In his defense, Swift has been battling injuries since before the season started. He has had to play through leg and groin injuries, so he got off to a rough start. This allowed fellow running back Elijah Holyfield to take some of the spotlight. Holyfield is a great player and probably has a future NFL career ahead of him, but a healthy Swift cannot be challenged by many running backs in the country. We saw that against Florida. It only took 12 carries for him to break 100 yards. The bye week gave Swift a chance to fully recover, and fans finally got to see his full potential this season. With a healthy duo in the backfield, Georgia could make a push into the playoff.

When will Ben Cleveland return?

The Georgia offense has severely missed Ben Cleveland. The big man up front has been inactive for about a month with a fractured fibula. Freshman Cade Mays has done a fantastic job filling in for Cleveland, but injuries are starting to take a toll on the offensive line. Andrew Thomas went down again against Florida with the same injured ankle. Solomon Kindley is also banged up. This forced another freshman in Trey Hill to play some snaps the last two games. However, Cleveland has started to take reps in practice again the last couple of weeks. He even traveled with the team to Jacksonville, so it is safe to assume he could have played if needed. Reports have come out that Cleveland is available to play this weekend against Kentucky but in a limited role. By the time Auburn rolls around, Big Ben should be good to start again, and, hopefully, starting in Atlanta to play the SEC West Champion.
