The Bruins got a late hit with the signing of four-star tight end Michael Ezeike. Over the last few weeks it had been down to Oregon and USC, with UCLA coming up on the outside after a late visit to campus.
He is 6-5, 220 pounds out of Colony High School in Ontario, CA. He had been committed to Oregon but re-opened his recruiting when Willie Taggart left the Ducks for the Florida State coaching job. Ezeike had been scheduled to visit Ole Miss last weekend but cancelled that when he narrowed it down to his final three. He is the 13th ranked tight end in the country according to 247Sports.
In his senior year he had 50 catches for 960 yards receiving and 15 touchdowns. He also played defensive end and had 10 tackles. He will be a receiver or tight end in Westwood. His size, and speed for his size, make him an instant match-up problems for a lot of defenses. He spent much of his youth playing soccer, so there is still a lot developmental upside for him in football.
