Day 2 brings the conclusion of the first round, with a host of local players on display for the fans. As always, we here at LWOT will bring you predictions for every match, but who do you think will advance to the second round?

ATP Miami Day 2 Predictions

Marton Fucsovics vs Christopher O’Connell

Head-to-head: Fucsovics 2-0 O’Connell

Marton Fucsovics and Christopher O’Connell faced each other just two weeks ago in the first round of Indian Wells, where Fucsovics’ baseline reliability proved decisive against O’Connell’s big serve. At ATP Miami, the Australians’ serve may be even more effective. However, Fucsovics should still hold a clear advantage from the back of the court, targeting the one-handed backhand and finishing points when opportunities arise.

Prediction: Fucsovics in 2

Quentin Halys vs Liam Draxl

Head-to-head: First meeting

Quentin Halys enters Miami having lost three of his last four matches and will be eager to pick up wins before the tour transitions to clay. Liam Draxl, meanwhile, is more commonly seen on the Challenger Tour but did well to qualify for the main draw here. While he brings strong intensity, Halys should have enough firepower on a faster court to come through.

Prediction: Halys in 2

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBQX4Rqbrp" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 2473px; aspect-ratio: 2473/1649;" ></smartframe-embed>

Aleksandar Kovacevic vs Rei Sakamoto

Head-to-head: First meeting

Aleksandar Kovacevic came close to the biggest win of his career at Indian Wells, pushing Novak Djokovic to three sets with his aggressive play and strong serve. Against Rei Sakamoto, the match will likely be decided by who takes initiative early in rallies, and at this stage, Kovacevic still appears to have the edge in that department.

Prediction: Kovacevic in 3

Alex Michelsen vs Mattia Bellucci

Head-to-head: Michelsen 1-0 Bellucci

After a positive run at Indian Wells, Alex Michelsen will look to carry that momentum into ATP Miami. Mattia Bellucci, his opponent, may lack a standout weapon but possesses a solid baseline game. On the faster hard courts, however, Michelsen should earn enough free points to take control of the match.

Prediction: Michelsen in 2

Main Photo Credit: Robert Deutsch – USA TODAY Sports

The last big stop before the tour transitions to clay is here, and it has already been a fascinating start to the tournament in Miami.
