Nine matches are on the cards, featuring some seeds, and notably the tournament’s defending champion. As always, LWOT predicts the upcoming matches, but who will advance?

ATP Hong Kong Day 2 Predictions

Jesper de Jong vs Gabriel Diallo

Head-to-head: First meeting

Hong Kong’s fast courts are prime conditions for speedy servers, and that will make Diallo feel a lot better on Tuesday. The Canadian rose the ranks to reach the Top 40 in 2025, with the 6-foot-8 player having one of the heaviest serves and forehands on tour. de Jong also improved in 2025, compiling a 17-14 record on tour, but I believe his game is a bit more passive and fit for slower courts. Look for the Canadian to shake off some nerves early and reach the second round.

Prediction: Diallo in 2

Embed from Getty Images

Tomas Martin Etcheverry vs Valentin Royer

Head-to-head: First meeting

Royer built himself into a tour-level player over the course of 2025. While he is on a three match losing streak, the Frenchman plays his best tennis on hard courts. Etcheverry is also a skilled all-court player, with his ranking just one spot lower than Royer at No. 57. This feels like a 50-50 matchup, but with the 2026 season at an uncertain blank slate, Etcheverry’s experience in now his fourth tour-level campaign could be the difference.

Prediction: Etcheverry in 3

Coleman Wong vs Mariano Navone

Head-to-head: First meeting

Every season has been a bit better for Wong, the 21-year-old representing Hong Kong’s best on tour. He put together a 9-5 tour-level record in 2025, and a 17-14 record on the ATP Challenger Tour. Wong has only played this ATP 250 event once, falling to Juncheng Shang, but I think he’ll be able to get his first home tournament win on Tuesday. Navone only won five matches on hard courts last season, and Wong’s flat groundstrokes will help him control the rallies on these fast courts.

Prediction: Wong in 2

Embed from Getty Images

Juncheng Shang vs Francisco Comesana

Head-to-head: Shang 1-0

Fans and pundits praised Shang as a rising star in 2025, but a foot injury derailed his season soon after he reached this tournament’s semifinal round. He’s now ranked just outside the Top 400. When injury-free, Shang is fast and talented on court, and I think that motivation he’ll have starting anew in 2026 will allow him to outhit Comesana. The Argentinian did have a solid end to 2025, while he’s never played this tournament before.

Prediction: Shang in 3

Alexandre Muller vs Miomir Kecmanovic

Head-to-head: Muller 2-1

Muller will kick off Center Court’s Tuesday matches, with some pressure as a defending champion for the first time. The 2025 Hong Kong champion will have to face Kecmanovic; notably, the two are playing doubles together at this tournament. The Serb crushed Muller just months ago in Stockholm in a 6-4 6-1 drubbing, but Muller beat Kecmanovic in a Hong Kong thriller last year en route to the title.

The two are just ranked one spot away from each other — No. 52 and No. 51 in the world — and I see this match going either way. The pressure of defending a title might be a bit overwhelming for the Frenchman, and Kecmanovic had a slightly better end to his 2025 season. Going for the upset.

Prediction: Kecmanovic in 3

Main Photo Credit: Robert Deutsch – USA TODAY Sports

After a couple matches on Monday at the ATP 250 Hong Kong event, the action ramps up on Tuesday.
