I’ll dedicate myself to exercises to recover. We’ll have specific things every day, exercises, treatment for the next two weeks, so I’ll do whatever it takes to be ready. I’ll take this very seriously, I’ll focus a lot on recovery, and I hope to be well as soon as possible.”

Alcaraz will officially be off tennis duties until December 6, taking around three weeks to recover, rest, and take a brief vacation before restarting. He will then travel to the United States for two exhibition matches on December 7 and December 8, against Frances Tiafoe in New Jersey and Joao Fonseca in Miami, respectively. Regarding the exhibitions, whose status remains uncertain due to the muscle injury, he said:

“I mean, it’s always a pleasure to be in New York, I love playing there, and I’m very eager and excited to play there again. Against Frances, it’s always a great challenge; it’s always a pleasure. And obviously, in Miami, with Joao, I think the crowd will be very involved. The energy I feel there is great, and I appreciate that, so it will be very fun days that I’m looking forward to experiencing.”

After the exhibitions, each reportedly earning him a seven-figure appearance fee, Alcaraz will head back home to Murcia for a short break. He will begin his preseason on December 13, four weeks after playing his last official match of the 2025 season.

Embed from Getty Images

Training Block With Full Coaching Team

The training block will last 3.5 weeks. The first week will be entirely dedicated to physical conditioning to ensure he is up to speed. The remainder will focus on tennis-specific drills and technical adjustments through on-court sessions. Head coach Juan Carlos Ferrero and assistant Samuel Lopez will supervise the block, alongside physiotherapists Juanjo Lopez and Fran Rubio, and fitness trainers Alberto Lledo and Alex Sanchez.

The block will conclude after the first week of January, when Alcaraz will travel to South Korea to compete in another exhibition, this time against Jannik Sinner on January 10.

Early Arrival in Australia for Career-Slam Bid

From there, he will head directly to Melbourne for the Australian Open, arriving earlier than in previous years. This is a conscious effort to help him acclimate to the timezone and court conditions at the only Major where he has yet to reach the semifinals.

As part of his lead-up, he will participate in the newly launched Million Dollar 1 Point Slam, an initiative by Tennis Australia featuring 10 amateurs and 22 professionals competing in single-point matches, with a one million Australian dollar prize for the winner.

After that, all roads will lead to Rod Laver Arena, where the Spaniard will chase history and aim to complete the Career Grand Slam as the youngest men’s player ever, after already having won each of the other three Majors twice.

Main Photo Credit: David Gonzales – Imagn Images

Carlos Alcaraz officially ended his 2025 tennis season due to a right hamstring muscle issue that prevented him from participating in the Davis Cup Finals in Bologna this week.
