Round of 16 matches are slated to end on Day 4 and, as ever, we preview and predict all scheduled matches for you.

ATP Tokyo Day 4 Predictions

Jenson Brooksby vs Luciano Darderi

Head-to-head – First Meeting

Both players have had a good 2025 season so far. Jenson Brooksby won his first tour level title at Houston and Luciano Darderi has already won three titles this year. Both have won these on clay so it remains to be seen how well they play on the hard courts. Expect Brooksby to put up a strong fight but Darderi has won a challenger event recently and is likely to be more aggressive.
Prediction: Darderi in 3

Marton Fucsovics vs Brandon Nakashima

Head-to-head – First Meeting

This should be an exciting matchup. Marton Fucsovics looked really good this week in the qualifiers and then in a tough first round match against Frances Tiafoe. The Hungarian now faces Brandon Nakashima, who impressed in Chengdu last week but did struggle in his opening match here. Expect a tight battle with Fucsovics just edging it with his slightly more attacking brand of tennis.
Prediction: Fucsovics in 3

Embed from Getty Images

Holger Rune vs Ethan Quinn

Head-to-head – First Meeting

Holger Rune has not quite been at his peak level of tennis this year and that shown in the results. His sole title this year has been at Barcelona and since then he has failed to reach the semifinal stage. That being said, he played a solid first round match here, and while Ethan Quinn has done well in qualifying, the American still has some ways to go to match the top players from the baseline.
Prediction: Rune in 2

Carlos Alcaraz vs Zizou Bergs

Head-to-head – First Meeting

It remains to be seen how well Carlos Alcaraz recovers from the slip he endured in his first-round match. The Spaniard channeled his warrior spirit to still close out the match in straight sets but his week will only get tougher. He takes on Zizou Bergs, who played a clutch match to defeat the champion in Chengdu last week in a third set tiebreaker. The Belgian is a fine talent but at the moment not many can touch a fit Alcaraz.
Prediction: Alcaraz in 2

Main Photo Credit: Susan Mullane-Imagn Images

The ATP Tokyo 2025 Open has been full of exciting tennis, and lucky for us tennis fans, there’s a lot more left to be seen this week.
