Now in the second round, our coverage includes four matches in this article. Please let me know in the comments if you agree with our picks.

WTA Beijing

Potapova – Mboko: Time 05:00

H2H: 0-1

Our first match is Anastasia Potapova vs Victoria Mboko. The two met earlier this year, with Mboko beating her in the first round of WTA Washington in straight sets. That was just a few months ago, and Mboko has been fantastic since then. Mboko is 8-2 in her last ten matches, and Potapova is 4-6. In fact, Potapova’s loss to Mboko is not only in her last ten matches, but also in Mboko’s last ten matches. This is probably why the books have her as a solid favorite.

Best Bet to Make

The books have Mboko as a nearly 1-point favorite over Potapova. Some of the books have her as the favorite by more than one point. While Mboko did lose in the first round of the US Open, the match before that saw her win the WTA Montreal tournament. Her US Open opponent also made the quarterfinals, so even that wasn’t a bad loss. Mboko is clearly shaping up to be one of the best players in the world, and this is yet another chance to prove why she’s considered the future of Canadian tennis.

That being said, Mboko winning is a value bet for sure.

Value bet/the best odds: Mboko winning @1.6 @Betway

Kartal – Kasatkina: Time 05:00

H2H: 1-0

Like our previous pair, Darya Kasatkina and Sonay Kartal also met earlier this year. In this case, Kartal took their June first-round match at WTA Queen’s Club in three sets. Both women are 5-5 in their last ten matches, but Kasatkina is riding a two-match losing streak. Both women are also .500 when it comes to their 2025 record on a hardcourt. Kartal is 9-9 and Kasatkina is 12-12.

Best Bet to Make

The books see Kasatkina as the favorite, and I agree for the most part. My reasoning comes down to their losses. When you look at the matches Kasatkina lost, they’re to extremely talented opposition. Kartal is losing to opponents ranked above 300! I know Kartal lost to Emma Navarro and Beatriz Haddad Maia, but she also lost to Caroline Garcia in 2025. I know Garcia once occupied the upper rankings of the WTA, but 2023 is the last year she was pushing top talent to the brink. I trust that Kasatkina can handle Kartal.

That being said, Kasatkina winning is a value bet for sure.

Value bet/the best odds: Kasatkina winning @1.80 @Unibet

Bouzas Maneiro – Yastremska: Time 05:00

H2H: 1-0

Just like our previous two matches, Jessica Bouzas Maneiro and Darya Kasatkina played earlier this year. Bouzas Maneiro won their third-round Wimbledon match in three sets. Since then, Bouzas Maneiro reached the quarterfinals at WTA Montreal and the round of 16 at WTA Cincinnati, but those are her only wins since beating Kasatkina at Wimbledon. Kasatkina bounced right back to reach the semifinal of her next tournament in Hamburg, the round of 16 in Montreal, and the third round at WTA Cincinnati. Both women are 11-10 on a hardcourt in 2025.

Best Bet to Make

The books have Bouzas Manerio as the favorite in this match, but not by very much. One book even has them as a draw, but they’re the outlier in this situation, as most are about .20 points or more in favor of Bouzas Manerio. Both women have played some quality competition as of late. Both women have quality wins and quality losses. This match is tough to call, and in those situations, I like to trust the averages and

That being said, Bouzas Maneiro winning is a value bet for sure.

Value bet/the best odds: Bouzas Maneiro winning @1.91 @Bet365

Shnaider – Joint: Time 05:00

H2H: 0-0

Our final match bucks the trend. Not only have Diana Shnaider and Maya Joint not played this year, but they’ve never met before! Joint enters at 6-4 in her last ten, and Shnaider is 5-5 in hers. Joint has a much better record on a hardcourt in 2025 than does Shnaider, as she’s 24-14 while Shnaider is 12-12 this year. Shnaider has almost as many as Joint does, but Joint has nearly double the wins. Despite this, the books have Shnaider as the favorite in this match.

Best Bet to Make

I disagree with Shnaider being the match favorite. I understand that she just won a tournament at the end of August, but her hardcourt tournament average is about 1-2 wins per event. The tournament victory was an outlier. Meanwhile, Joint has been consistently great all year, and she has two tournament titles this year. She’s also one event removed from reaching the semifinals in Seoul. I think she’s playing better right now than Shnaider, and she has more at her disposal.
