Boisson’s rapid improvement this year and powerful game make her dangerous anywhere. However, this year’s French Open semifinalist<\/a> remains most potent on clay and in slower conditions. Alexandrova is naturally more adept on a medium-speed hard court like the ones in Seoul. I do not think Boisson will be able to trouble the No. 2 seed enough with her heavy topspin forehand, which is a crucial part of her game.

Beatriz Haddad Maia vs Ella Seidel<\/h4>\n

Defending champion Haddad Maia made a solid start in the opening round. The Brazilian was probably happy to be back at a venue where she has been successful after a challenging season. Seidel handled Jessika Ponchet’s old-school playing style well in the previous round. Haddad Maia’s game is entirely different, and the German only has a chance if her higher-ranked opponent does not perform at her best.
