Rising star Alexandra Eala has a chance to continue her winning run when she faces Julia Riera. Five contests are scheduled in total, and we at LWOT predict all the action in this article.

WTA Sao Paulo Day 3 Predictions

Victoria Rodriguez vs Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah

Head-to-head: First meeting

Rakotomanaga Rajaonah’s opening match was the most thrilling of the tournament so far. She staged an astonishing comeback from 0-5 in the final set to win 6-4 4-6 7-6 after saving match points. By contrast, Ajla Tomljanovic retired in the second set against Rodriguez. An opponent’s retirement can sometimes disrupt players, and I think that could happen to Rodriguez here. The Frenchwoman is backed to win.

Prediction: Rakotomanga Rajaonah in 2

Janice Tjen vs Martina Okalova

Head-to-head: First meeting

Tjen played superbly against the No. 7 seed, Leolia Jeanjean, in the previous round. Okalova also performed well against Arina Rodionova, but her level was not as high as Tjen’s. If the Indonesian gets near the same level in this match, she has a great chance to reach the quarterfinal.

Prediction: Tjen in 2

Francesca Jones vs Whitney Osuigwe

Head-to-head: First meeting

Jones is the higher-ranked of these two players. However, Osuigwe possesses more natural talent, and this matchup will be decided by whether she plays at her best consistently enough. I would back the gritty Jones on clay, but I think the American has a better chance of hitting through her on a hard court.

Prediction: Osuigwe in 3

Solana Sierra vs Nauhany Vitoria Leme de Silva

Head-to-head: First meeting

Embed from Getty Images

Sierra was rock solid during her victory against Arianne Hartono, but will face much more pressure in this match. 15-year-old home favorite Leme de Silva became the first player born in 2010 to win a WTA match in the previous round. Although the teenager has a chance of getting consecutive victories, No. 2 seed Sierra promises to be a more formidable challenge. I think it will prove too challenging for the young player.

Prediction: Sierra in 2

Alexandra Eala vs Julia Riera

Head-to-head: Eala 1-1 Riera

Embed from Getty Images

Eala continued her excellent form since the US Open with a crushing 6-0 6-2 triumph in the previous round. That was the Filipina’s sixth consecutive win in Guadalajara after winning the WTA 125K tournament held in the city last week. Riera’s best level is nowhere near Eala’s, and I doubt this will be a close contest.

Prediction: Eala in 2

Main Photo Credit: Geoff Burke-Imagn Images

The first WTA Sao Paulo round of 16 matches will occur on Wednesday.
