I added an extra match because these were the only four to meet our minimum. Please share your thoughts and picks in the comments section.

WTA U.S. Open

Zarazua – Parry: Time 17:00

H2H: 2-0

Renata Zarazua has beaten Diane Parry twice before, with the last time coming in the final of the 2023 WTA Montevideo tournament. She took the match in three sets, with the entire contest being contested evenly throughout most of it. Neither lady is especially great on a hardcourt in 2025. Both ladies made it as far as the second round last year, and both have four previous entries into the US Open.

Best Bet to Make

The books see this match largely as a push. At their furthest apart, Parry is the favorite by .21 points. Many books have them within .10 points of each other. I don’t fully understand this, as Parry has a losing overall record on a hardcourt. For all her faults, Zarazua has two wins over Parry and is 182-139 on a hardcourt. It can’t be their recent form as Parry is 6-4 while Zarazua is 5-5 in their last ten matches. I think Zarazua is the better bet here, and I imagine she may close the line towards first serve.

That being said, Zarazua winning is a value bet for sure.

Value bet/the best odds: Zarazua winning @2.05 @Betfair

Haddad Maia – Golubic: Time 17:00

H2H: 1-4

Viktorija Golubic has absolutely dominated Beatriz Haddad Maia in one-on-one competition. That said, Haddad Maia nabbed her first win over Golubic at the 2024 WTA Cleveland event, and that’s their only WTA match. It also happened on a hardcourt, which is what they’ll have in this match. Golubic has fewer overall matches and wins on a hardcourt than Haddad Maia in the overall sense, but Golubic has the better record on a hardcourt in 2025, and it’s by a good margin.

Best Bet to Make

Haddad Maia is the favorite in this match, and I get why. She hasn’t played her best on a hardcourt in 2025, but she did dispatch Sonay Kartal in the first round, and that had to provide Haddad Maia with a significant boost in confidence. Here’s the thing, though: Golubic has been really good on a hardcourt this year, including recently. She made the quarterfinals in the Cleveland WTA tournament before the US Open, and made the final in the WTA Warsaw 2 tournament before that. I think she’s playing better right now, and she overcame a quality opponent herself in Boisson.

That being said, Golubic winning is a value bet for sure.

Value bet/ the best odds: Golubic winning @2.2 @1xBet

Cristian – Krueger: Time 17:00

H2H: 0-0

Jacqueline Cristian and Ashlyn Krueger had never played before the US Open. Krueger enters the match having played a really quality match against Sofia Kenin in the first round. Krueger needed all three sets to take down Kenin, but she was the better player throughout. Cristian had a quality win over Danielle Collins, and she did it in style. Collins was only able to win two games the entire match, as Cristian dominated her 6-2, 6-0 in a very quick match.

Best Bet to Make

Krueger is the solid favorite, according to the books. I’m fine with the pick of Krueger, but I do think the line is a little strong given Collins’ year and her recent form. Even still, Krueger has the better overall winning percentage on a hardcourt, as she has six fewer wins, but twelve fewer losses. Furthermore, as good as Collins is, Kenin was a more impressive quality of win for Krueger. I think Krueger will need three sets again, but she should win this match.

That being said, Krueger winning is a value bet for sure.

Value bet/ the best odds: Krueger winning @1.65 @1xBet

Cirstea – Muchova: Time 17:00

H2H: 1-5

Karolina Muchova has dominated Sorana-Mihaela Cirstea in every match they’ve played, except for the 2023 WTA Miami match. They’ve played six of them, with two of them at the US Open, and all on a hardcourt. In all of those matches, only once has Cirstea managed to push Muchova into a third set, but many of their matches have at least had one competitive set, if not two. While Cirstea made the quarterfinals of the US Open in 2023, guess who she lost to? Muchova not only beat Cirstea in that match, but she’s been in the semifinals of the US Open for the last two editions.

Best Bet to Make

I cannot recommend Muchova strongly enough. Muchova seems to understand Cirstea, and doesn’t struggle with her. If it weren’t for Muchova’s previous matches against Cirstea, she’d probably be the favorite because she’s 9-1 in her last ten matches. Muchova is 5-5 and she has four fewer wins on a hardcourt in 2025, while having the same number of losses as Cirstea. I’m not going to be shocked in the slightest if Cirstea pulls an upset in her form, but I trust the books on this one because the evidence speaks for itself.

That being said, Muchova winning is a value bet for sure.

Value bet/ the best odds: Muchova winning @1.65 @1xBet

Main Photo Credit: Susan Mullane-USA TODAY Sports

It’s time for the US Open second round, which means I’m back with more betting opportunities.
