Nakashima has been in good form over the last couple of months and has lost most of the time to opponents ranked higher than him. That’s not the case with Arthur Blockx, who is ranked outside the top 100 and is still finding his feet at the ATP level. Blockx got his first tour-level win in the first round against Marcos Giron and had a great day on serve. He can keep it close against Nakashima if he keeps that level on serve, but it’s hard to see him winning.

Prediction: Nakashima in 3

Alexei Popyrin vs Martin Landaluce

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Alexei Popyrin failed to defend his title at the Canada Masters, but he had a great run, defeating Daniil Medvedev, Holger Rune and pushing Alexander Zverev to three sets. He is a former quarterfinalist here, and his form should help him cruise through the second round. Martin Landaluce did well to reach this stage, having played three back-to-back matches that went to the deciding set. The Spaniard has a good serve but also makes plenty of double faults, which he can’t afford against a top-20 player.

Prediction: Popyrin in 2

Daniil Medvedev vs Adam Walton

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Embed from Getty Images

Daniil Medvedev has enjoyed this event a lot in the past, winning the title in 2019 and reaching the semifinals in 2021 and 2022. However, his decline over the last two seasons has been evident, and he is not at his best these days. He is hitting more double faults than ever and losing close matches, which was his forte once. Adam Walton is no pushover, having played well against Alexander Zverev in Toronto and defeating Mariano Navone in the first round. He can push Medvedev here, but maybe not enough to win the match.

Prediction: Medvedev in 3

Alexander Zverev vs Nishesh Basavareddy

Head-to-Head: first meeting

World No.3 Alexander Zverev reached the semifinals in Toronto but would be disappointed to lose a close match against Karen Khachanov. In fairness, Zverev was far from his best and was searching for his top form all tournament. He will look to improve here and will be confident of doing so, considering his record here. The German player has at least reached the semifinals in his last three appearances at the Cincinnati Open. Nishesh Basavareddy got his first Masters 1000 win in the first round and can trouble Zverev with his precision and shot selection. However, his serve lacks the punch, and Zverev will get chances to break him.

Prediction: Zverev in 3

Main Photo Credit: Robert Deutsch-Imagn Images

Day 4 of ATP Cincinnati is packed with exciting matches, and fans will have plenty of entertainment throughout the day.
