The 2025 season has been a topsy turvy one for the former world no.1 Daniil Medvedev. On one hand, he has made it to eight quarterfinals, a couple of semifinals, and a final as well. On the other hand, he has three first-round exits as well, with Wimbledon<\/a> being the most recent one. In the chaos of all these results he still has been denied a title on the tour this year. As the tour has moved to the North American hard courts, Medvedev’s history suggests this might be the best time for him to collect a title or two.<\/p>\n

Medvedev’s good history in North America<\/h2>\n

Currently the Russian reached his eighth quarterfinal of the year at the Citi Open<\/a> in Washington D.C. He beat Yibing Wu 6-3 6-2 in a little more than an hour to seal the deal. Medvedev served 11 aces and has looked his best version of the year so far. Medvedev’s problem this year has been his inability to rack consistent performances one after the other.<\/p>\n

The most recent example of this would be his run to the final in Halle that made him one of the title choices for Wimbledon<\/a>. However, he couldn’t get past his first hurdle at the Championships. He also didn’t have the best time on clay this year with a few early exits. However, the latter part of the year is going to be played on his favorite surface and in the continent he has achieved decent success in the past. Medvedev’s only Grand Slam glory came at the US Open<\/a>, when he beat Novak Djokovic in the final back in 2021<\/a>.<\/p>\n
