This year, the draw has a 96-player singles field. This will be made up of 32 seeds, qualifiers, special ranking entrants, and seven wild cards. World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka withdrew from the tournament due to fatigue, and that means Coco Gauff will be the top seed.

Last week, an initial three-woman wild card list was released with Eugenie Bouchard and Bianca Andreescu leading the line. The tournament organizers have now named the other four recipients. So, who are they?

National Bank Open: Four More Players Receive Montreal Wild Cards

As expected, Canadians have scooped all the wild card spots in singles. The second batch is headed by 24-year-old Carson Branstine. The World No. 191 is fresh from a successful Wimbledon qualifying tournament where she beat French Open history-maker Lois Boisson and compatriot Bianca Andreescu. This will be her maiden main draw appearance at the National Bank Open.

A second wild card main draw debutant is Kayla Cross. The 20-year-old remains winless at the Tour level in her career and hasn’t won a hard court match since March. Cross lost in qualifying when she last competed in Toronto.

2023 Billie Jean King Cup champion Marina Stakusic is the third wild card entrant. Stakusic’s previous main draw appearance in this tournament came last year when she won her opening match in Toronto against Erika Andreeva.

Embed from Getty Images

And completing the second batch of wild cards is the experienced Rebecca Marino. The 34-year-old has played in six main draws at her home tournament. Her best result was in 2021 when she upset Madison Keys and Paula Badosa to make the last 16.

Five players will use their special ranking status to access the main draw. These are Sorana Cirstea, Caty McNally, Anastasija Sevastova, Marketa Vondrousova, and Zhu Lin.
