When fans heard Leylah Fernandez say the words, \u201cIn Montreal, I would like to go on a date,\u201d in a video posted to her Instagram account<\/a>, many assumed she was joking. But she wasn\u2019t. The Canadian tennis star has openly invited someone to go on a date with her during the National Bank Open<\/a> (formerly Rogers Cup).<\/p>\n

\u201cDM Me\u201d\u2014 But Meet the Dad First<\/h2>\n

\u201cHey guys, you know what I really want to do that I haven\u2019t done? Go on a date,\u201d she said in the video<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m not a big fan of dating apps, so I\u2019m actually going to do things my own way. I\u2019m going to go on one date for one hour in Montreal. If you want to be my date, DM me. Let me know about yourself. Yeah\u2026 see you there.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the caption, Fernandez added: \u201cThis will be fun, right? This isn\u2019t a joke. I fully intend to go on a date in Montreal, so go ahead and DM me\u2026 time to shoot your shot. PS: you may have to meet my dad beforehand (good luck with that).\u201d<\/p>\n

That might be the hardest part, as her father Jorge–who also serves as her coach–would likely want someone truly special for his daughter.<\/p>\n
