Jannik Sinner<\/a> brought glory to Italy becoming the first tennis player from his nation to lift a Singles title at the Wimbledon Championships. He beat Carlos Alcaraz<\/a> in just over three hours with the score reading 4-6 6-4 6-4 6-4. He redeemed himself from the terribly heartbreaking loss at the French Open<\/a> five weeks ago where he messed up championship points against the same opponent. With his glory on Centre Court he has put himself in another list of elite tennis players.<\/p>\n

Sinner breaches the 12,000 mark<\/h2>\n

The world No. 1 now joins the “Big 4” in a special record held only by them previously. Since 1990, the Big 4 that consists of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal<\/a>, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray were the only four players to have reached 12,000 points in the ATP rankings. Sinner now joins them to become the fifth player in the 12,000 points club. He now sits pretty at 12,030 points.<\/p>\n

The record for the most points in a season is still held by Djokovic, who in his 2015-16 season reached the pinnacle with 16,950 points. He is followed by Federer (15,903), Nadal (15,390) and Murray (12,685). From 2004 to 2022 this famous quartet ruled over the No. 1 ranking, and it was only in 2022 that Daniil Medvedev and then Alcaraz who earnted that mark. However, neither the Russian nor the Spaniard could reach 12,000, and Sinner has achieved this feat in just a little over a year since he reached the top of the rankings.<\/p>\n
