As ever, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for both matches, as well as all the action in the men’s singles, but who will secure their spot in the last eight?

Wimbledon Day 8 Predictions

Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Belinda Bencic

Yesh: Belinda Bencic is in really good form right now. She’s always liked grass, and she looks very comfortable on these courts right now. With an open draw, there’s no telling how far she can go.

Prediction: Bencic in 3

Jordan: Bencic has lost her three previous fourth-round matches at Wimbledon. Serving as well as the previous round against Elisabetta Cocciaretto could be crucial here since Alexandrova holds a lot on grass and usually does not give repeated chances. If Bencic does that, her class in other areas has a good chance of shining through.

Prediction: Bencic in 3

Manan: As we enter the second week, the fitness of the players is a big concern. Alexandrova has done well here as she hasn’t dropped a set and has kept her time on court minimal. Bencic, who is recovering from injuries, has played two grueling three-setters with the last one won in the super tiebreaker. Considering the power in the Russians game she might take this from the Swiss.

Prediction: Alexandrova in 2

Iga Swiatek vs Clara Tauson

Yesh: Swiatek has never been amazing on grass, but the draw is wide open and she’s playing really well. I’m not sure who will beat her, but I doubt it will be Clara Tauson.

Prediction: Swiatek in 2

Jordan: This could be an intriguing battle. Tauson’s huge hitting is the style that usually disrupts Swiatek the most. However, the five-time Grand Slam champion handled Danielle Collins’ attempts at doing that expertly. The Pole is playing her best ever tennis on grass, and I think she can rise to this challenge.

Prediction: Swiatek in 2

Manan: Tauson boasts of a very powerful game and a good serve – as demonstrated by then number of tiebreaks so far. She will also be high on confidence after knocking out Rybakina, a former Wimbledon champion. However, the touch Swiatek possesses on the grass might prove to be lethal for Tauson. Also, Swiatek looks the best she has in a while in Grand Slam tennis.

Prediction: Swiatek in 2

Embed from Getty Images

Liudmila Samsonova vs Jessica Bouzas Maneiro

Yesh: What an incredible opportunity for these two women to reach a Wimbledon quarterfinal. I trust Samsonova more, as she’s been better on fast courts for longer. But the Brazilian is really impressive right now.

Prediction: Samsonova in 3

Jordan: Bouzas Maneiro successfully handled Dayana Yastremska’s powerful hitting in the last round. While that might help her against Samsonova, who also plays aggressively, this will probably be too great a challenge for the Spaniard to overcome. Samsonova has the added benefit of a more powerful serve than Yastremska, which puts more pressure on Bouzas Maneiro to hold.

Prediction: Samsonova in 2

Manan: Both Samsonova and Bouzas Maneiro match each other strength to strength. However, Samsonova’s incredible return games win percentage with none of her opponents even getting to 4 games against her gives her the edge.

Prediction Samsonova in 3

Mirra Andreeva vs Emma Navarro

Yesh: I really think Emma Navarro is going to win this tournament. Her blend of power from the baseline as well as all-court shots is unmatched right now. And she looks right at home on a grass course. She just took out the defending champion with relative ease after a slow start. I don’t think Mirra Andreeva will have anything to trouble her.

Prediction: Navarro in 2

Jordan: Andreeva was ruthless in the opening three rounds. Navarro represents her toughest challenge so far, and the American will get a lot of balls back into play, as always. Overall, I think the teenager’s more formidable serve and extra firepower from the baseline give her the edge.

Prediction: Andreeva in 2

Manan: This is a match up many were waiting for as the draw has come up. Two young players, climbing up the rankings and playing some flawless tennis right through is exciting. Andreeva is a solid counter puncher. Navarro too likes to attack from the baseline and use the slice effectively. It will come down to the player with greater mental strength to win this battle. Navarro just showed tiny signs of vulnerability in her match against Krejcikova and that is why Andreeva might just carve out a win as she hasn’t shown any vulnerability so far.

Prediction: Andreeva in 3

Main Photo Credit: Susan Mullane-Imagn Images

It should be an entertaining eighth day at the Championships with the fourth round set to conclude at Wimbledon.
