We have <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/tennis\/category\/predictions\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">predictions<\/a> for every first round match in London.<\/p>\n<h3>Coco Gauff vs Dayana Yastremska<\/h3>\n<p>Manuel: Gauff is fresh off a maiden Roland Garros title and while she is quite unlikely to replicate that success on grass, she should definitely at least make it through this first round without many issues.<br \/>\nPrediction: <strong>Gauff in 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yesh: Coco Gauff is on top of the world right now. Will she win Wimbledon? Maybe, maybe not. Will she win this match, against a strong opponent, without trouble? Absolutely.<br data-start=\"290\" data-end=\"293\" \/><strong data-start=\"293\" data-end=\"319\">Prediction: Gauff in 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Damian: If Gauff loses here, it wouldn\u2019t be due to any hangover after winning Roland Garros. It\u2019s just that her defensive playstyle isn\u2019t quite as effective on grass and a massive ball-striker like Yastremska could take advantage. You never know what you\u2019re going to get from the Ukrainian, but I\u2019ll actually try calling the upset here. <strong>Yastremska in 3<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Caty McNally vs Jodie Burrage<\/h3>\n<p>Manuel: A match between two players outside the top 150 at a Slam is quite a rarity, but here we are. Burrage has far more match play on grass this season and that might well make the difference in her favour here. Prediction: <strong>Burrage in 3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yesh: Caty McNally has a lot of potential, but she&#8217;s not quite there yet. That&#8217;s a tough place to be against a Brit in Wimbledon. <strong data-start=\"483\" data-end=\"511\">Prediction: Burrage in 3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Damian: It\u2019s not like last year when Burrage was out for six months, this time she\u2019s playing regularly but just not winning the matches. She should definitely go a few rounds here. <strong data-start=\"674\" data-end=\"706\">Prediction: Alexandrova in 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Damian: Alexandrova typically doesn\u2019t produce her best tennis at the Slams, but she\u2019s been so consistent over the last few months. Grass suits her game perfectly too and she\u2019s got a draw that makes you think a deep run might be possible. Neither player is particularly comfortable on grass or has had much success in it so far this season, so there\u2019s really very little to separate them. Prediction: <strong>Frech in 3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yesh: Potapova is pretty solid but sometimes inconsistent. Frech is more consistent but probably has less upside. This could be fun, and I&#8217;ll go with Frech. Barely. <strong data-start=\"913\" data-end=\"939\">Prediction: Frech in 3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Damian: It\u2019s unclear how fit Potapova will be with the recent withdrawal in Berlin qualifying. In any case Frech can be nasty to face on grass, owing to her slightly more aggressive attitude and how well she uses the slice to neutralize the opponent.
