Our team has predictions for every match of the tournament including Petra Kvitova’s potential farewell match.

Jessica Pegula vs Elisabetta Cocciaretto

Nurein: Pegula got sufficient playing time in the warm-up tournaments before Wimbledon and will be hoping to have a longer stay at SW19. Cocciaretto is more of a clay specialist and struggles to play quicker points. Pegula’s flat-hitting should easily knock out the Italian.
Pegula in 2

Manuel: Pegula is fresh off a title in Bad Homburg and while she tends to do far better at tour events than Slams she is rightly considered one of the favorites here. It’s highly unlikely that she’s troubled by Cocciaretto here. Pegula in 2

Yesh: Jessica Pegula might never win a Slam, but she’s definitely going to come close. It takes a solid, consistent, powerful player to beat her. Cocciaretto isn’t it.
Prediction: Pegula in 2

Anna Kalinskaya vs Nina Stojanovic

Nurein: Kalinskaya is on a three-match losing run, but she’s never lost to Stojanovic in three meetings. The Russian has a much more refined game than the Serbian and she plays with so much authority. That winless drought should end here.
Kalinskaya in 2

Manuel: Kalinskaya is the far more solid and consistent player of the two and under normal circumstances she should be the one advancing here, even if she has only played one match on grass (and lost) so far this season. Prediction: Kalinskaya in 2

Yesh: Nina Stojanovic looked pretty solid in qualifying here. If she can do that again she might be able to pull off a bit of an upset here. Stojanovic in 3

Magda Linette vs Elsa Jacquemot

Embed from Getty Images

Nurein: This is another match where the veteran will need to tap into their experience to win. Linette doesn’t possess the strongest of records on grass, but she’s tough to beat on any surface. I’m leaning towards Jacquemot, who has the momentum after a successful qualifying run.
Jacquemot in 3

Manuel: While the difference in ranking between the two is quite large, it is quite mitigated on grass. Jacquemot played some excellent tennis in qualifying to make it to this main draw and she has a very good chance to continue her run here. Jacquemot in 3

Yesh: This could be a fun match. Elsa Jacquemot has real potential to frustrate solid hitters, but I have a feeling it’s much more likely that Linette will just blast her off the court.
Prediction: Linette in 2

Karolina Muchova vs Xinyu Wang

Embed from Getty Images

Nurein: Look, nobody can deny that Muchova is one of the most talented players on the women’s tour. But to be successful, you need to be healthy and the Czech has been unfortunate with injuries in that regard. Wang Xinyu was in great form in the tune-up tournament in Berlin where she reached her first grass-court final. The Chinese player has every reason to believe she will cause a shock in this one.
Wang in 3

Manuel: Ranking-wise, this is the highest level match of this first round, and Wang will surely be high on confidence after reaching the final in Berlin. If she maintains the level she showed there, she might well win here. Wang in 3

Yesh: Karolina Muchova has such astounding potential, but she’s never healthy enough to realize it. Still, she should easily win as long as she’s playing freely.
Prediction: Muchova in 2

Main Photo Credit: Mike Frey-USA TODAY Sports

Karolina Muchova and Jessica Pegula take to the courts at SW 19 on Tuesday for the first round of Wimbledon.
