The 35-year-old German loves the grass, but despite his decent performance last year where he reached the third round, he will no doubt need time to settle in before he can play his best tennis.

2025 Season

Struff possesses a 5-15 win-loss record this year, which is not at all tantamount to his talent and ball striking. The grass court season for the German didn’t turn around his season either with a solitary match win at The Stuttgart Open across the two tournaments he played at Stuttgart and Halle.

There’s no doubt Struff has endured a horrid season, but Wimbledon is a new week and a new tournament where he has reached the third round three times.

Struff is a big server and his linear groundstrokes are a handful for any especially on the grass and with best of five sets, the German can be a dangerous opponent if he settles into his game.

Wimbledon 2025 Draw

Struff finds himself in the quarter of the defending champion and 2025 French Open champion, Carlos Alcaraz. He could potentially meet him in a third-round encounter, in a rematch of their five-set encounter at the first round in Wimbledon three years ago.

To get there, Struff will will have to go past qualifier Filip Misolic–who hasn’t played a main draw match on the rass this year. While the first round shouldn’t cause Struff much trouble, the second round might.

Struff could potentially play Felix Auger-Aliassime or James Duckworth. While both are decent players, Struff won’t be bogged down as he has got the game to progress ahead.

If Struff manages to push Alcaraz like he did three years ago and maybe even upset him, it may very well be the highlight of Struff’s career. Only time will tell.

Embed from Getty Images

Main Photo Credit: Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

Jan-Lennard Struff heads into Wimbledon 2025 on the back of a pretty lackluster year so far.
