The 2025 Wimbledon Open is upon us, and the second round action is next. While the bigger names won’t be playing until later in the week, there’s enough excitement in the second round to warrant a little attention from me in a best bets column. Here are my match selections and reasoning. Tell me your thoughts in the comments.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Wimbledon Open<\/b><\/h2>\n

Seidel \u2013 Niemeier: Time 16:30<\/b><\/h4>\n

H2H: 0-2<\/b><\/p>\n

Ella Seidel has two victories over Jule Niemeier in their two career matches, but both of them were played on clay, and the last match occurred in 2024. Niemeier enters the match with just a single win in her last six matches, and she’s 3-7 in her last ten matches. Seidel is 5-5 in her last ten matches, but she’s also 3-2 in her last five matches. Seidel is having the better year in 2025, as Niemeier has not played past the second round of any tournament in 2025, while Seidel has a quarterfinal and several round-of-16 appearances.<\/p>\n

Best Bet to Make<\/b><\/p>\n

Niemeier is listed as the favorite in this match, and I do not agree. Seidel is simply playing better than Niemeier. Never mind the fact that Seidel is in her third straight grass tournament, but this is only the second match on grass for Niemeier in all of 2025. Niemeier has only one tournament on the entire year where, even with qualifying, she has played three full matches. Every tournament is two matches or fewer. I have no darn clue why someone would list her as the favorite at this point.<\/p>\n

That being said, Seidel<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>winning is a value bet for sure.<\/b><\/p>\n

Cornet \u2013 Jimenez Kasintseva: Time 16:30<\/b><\/h4>\n

H2H: 0-0<\/b><\/p>\n

This will be the first match between Alize Cornet and Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva. Cornet enters this match really struggling at this time. Her win at Wimbledon was the first time in the last six matches that she gained a victory. She only has three victories in her last ten matches, and only two of these matches went three sets. She’s 1-1 in those contests. Jimenez Kasintseva is on a roll right now. She is 7-3 in her last ten matches, and 3-2 in her last five matches, with one of those losses being in the final at Makarska.<\/p>\n

Best Bet to Make<\/b><\/p>\n

While I am not surprised at all by the fact that Jimenez Kasintseva is the favorite in this match, I do find the line a bit surprising, and worthwhile. If you act quickly, you can jump on Jimenez Kasintseva at 1.88 in a straight victory. That’s the highest by a significant margin, but it’s a great way to add a few extra bucks to your pocket when the next highest is 1.8, and that’s available to one outlet. One player is playing her best tennis of the season, and another is 3-5 in 2025 overall.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That being said, <\/span> Jimenez Kasintseva<\/strong> <\/span>winning is a value bet for sure.<\/b><\/p>\n

Jamrichova \u2013 Garland: Time 15:00<\/b><\/h4>\n

H2H: 0-0<\/b><\/p>\n

Renata Jamrichova and Joanna Garland will meet for the first time at Wimbledon. At only 18, Jamrichova is one of the younger competitors in this tournament, making Garland the senior player at 23. Jamrichova is 4-6 in her last ten matches, but three of those wins came at lower-level tournaments. Garland is 7-3 in her last ten matches, and that includes the French Open. This will be the first Wimbledon appearance for both.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Best Bet to Make<\/b><\/p>\n

Jamrichova is an underdog in this match for good reason. Garland is an accomplished player, and she’s 34-11 on the year, whereas Jamrichova is 11-11 overall. Garland is the more experienced player, and she really seems to be putting it all together this year. It doesn’t hurt that grass is her preferred surface. With a solid all-around game, Garland<\/strong> should be able to dictate much of the match against Jamrichova and should win in straight sets.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That being said, Garland<\/strong> <\/span>winning 2:0 is a value bet for sure.<\/b><\/p>\n
