Roman Safiullin was a Wimbledon quarterfinalist two years ago, but is winless on grass this year after losing tight battles to Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard and Justin Engel. This should be competitive as well, while also being considerably less serve-oriented. On any other surface Alexandre Muller would be a heavy favorite right now, but we’re yet to truly see what he can do on grass. If he can’t counter-punch as effectively as he does elsewhere, Safiullin can find a way to win.

Every qualifier wanted to draw Camilo Ugo Carabelli, and Ethan Quinn was the lucky one. But is it as easy as it might seem? The Argentinian has never won a match on grass (0-3), focusing on it for the first time after improving his ranking. His grinding game just doesn’t suit the surface at all, although when confident he can sometimes go after his forehand more than you think. Still, if Quinn is going to keep rising in the rankings, this is a match he’s got no excuse losing.
