One would expect a serious clash to take place when Corentin Moutet and Fabio Fognini face each other. It lived up to the hype as they played a grueling three-set match before things became ugly at the net handshake. Fabio Fognini, who took a wild card to play the Boss Open in Stuttgart, wasn’t pleased with his level of tennis. Visibly, he wasn’t even ready to accept being beaten by the Frenchman.<\/p>\n
The first set was won by the Moutet, who claimed it 6-4 in no time. However, the second set was a long one where both players were pushing each other big time. It went into a tie break and Fognini claimed it 7-6. As the third set began, one could see Moutet raise the level of his game whereas Fognini’s level dropped significantly as he made some unnecessary errors. The Frenchman sealed the match as he beat the Italian 6-4 6-7 6-3.<\/p>\n
As both players came to the net for a handshake things became a little ugly. Moutet professionally shook hands and patted Fognini on the back. However, something displeased the Italian and he began to rant. The camera caught a few words where one could see him lash out at Moutet in French. The Italian said, “Regardemoi, petit cochon.” This line translates to, “Look at me you, little pig.” Moutet can be seen ignoring that and shaking the chair umpire’s hand before waving to the crowd. All this while Fognini in the background can be heard ranting and it was clear he had a few words to say to the Frenchman.<\/p>\n
