Tuesday at WTA Den Bosch is paced by Danielle Collins vs Greet Minnen. As always, we at LWOT offer our predictions.

WTA Den Bosch Day 2 Predictions

Magda Linette vs Bernarda Pera

Head–to–Head: Linette 0 vs 1 Pera

Magda Linette appeared to be gaining momentum before Roland Garros after reaching the quarter-finals in Strasbourg. However, her aspirations quickly ended in Paris, where she suffered a first-round loss to Clara Tauson. Linette has reached the quarter-finals three times this season but has been unable to advance beyond that point in any of those tournaments.

On the other hand, Bernarda Pera had a more positive experience in the year’s second Grand Slam, advancing to the third round after defeating Caroline Garcia and 18th seed Donna Vekic. Although she ultimately lost in a tightly contested match against Elina Svitolina, this represented progress for Pera as she looks ahead to the grass court season.

The two players have faced each other only once before, nearly seven years ago during the first qualifying round of Cincinnati, with Pera emerging victorious in three sets, and as she arrives here in better form, expect the same outcome

Prediction: Pera in 3

Wang Xiyu vs Kimberly Birrell

Head–to–Head: First Meeting

The Chinese player did not have a notable clay-court season, with her top result being a quarter-final finish at a 125 event in Parma. Wang has found it challenging to return to the form that took her to the semi-finals of the Singapore Open in early February.

Kimberly Birrell has already kicked off her grass court season by entering the Birmingham Classic as the second seed. The Australian won her first two matches but was defeated in the quarter-finals by the eventual champion Greet Minnen. This marked her first appearance in the last eight of any tournament since she reached the same stage in Singapore at the end of January. Birrell is the better player on grass and has already won a couple of matches. She should win this one.

Prediction: Birrell in 2

Embed from Getty Images

Anastasia Potapova vs Ann Li

Head–to–Head: Potapova 1 vs 0 Li

Ann Li has struggled to regain her early-season form, but some positives remain from her clay-court season. She beat Grand Slam finalist Leylah Fernandez on her way to the third round of Madrid and reached the quarter-finals at the Morocco Open. In her run at Roland Garros, she fell to fellow American Jessica Pegula in the second round. Now, her focus shifts to the grass courts as she faces Anastasia Potapova in the opening round.

Potapova also exited in the second round at Paris and has not advanced to the quarter-finals of any tournament since her victory at the Winners Open earlier in February. Potapova won their only previous encounter, and despite her inconsistent performance, she is still expected to come through this match comfortably.

Prediction: Potapova in 2

Danielle Collins vs Greet Minnen

Head–to–Head: Collins 1 vs 0 Minnen

Danielle Collins had a positive clay court season overall, reaching the quarter-finals in Charleston and advancing to the semi-finals in Strasbourg just before Roland Garros. However, she only progressed to the second round in Paris, where Olga Danilovic defeated her in three sets.

Minnen started her grass court season incredibly well by winning the Birmingham Classic, marking her first title of the year, and she is currently enjoying a five-match winning streak. This first-round encounter poses a challenge for the American, especially since her opponent is coming off a title win. However, I’ll back the seasoned Collins to overcome a potentially fatigued Minnen.

Prediction: Collins in 3

Main Photo Credit: Geoff Burke – USA TODAY Sports

With virtually all the favourites winning on the first day in Rosmalen, Day 2, loaded with ten matches, promises to bring more excitement and surprises as some big guns take to the court.
