Jannik Sinner looks to continue his run against Jiri Lehecka, while Alexander Zverev faces the in-form Flavio Cobolli. Alexander Bublik takes on Portuguese qualifier Henrique Rocha, and Cameron Norrie meets fellow Brit Jay Fearnley in an all-UK showdown. Here’s how our panelists see the action unfolding at Roland-Garros.

Jannik Sinner vs Jiri Lehecka

Ateet Shrivastava: Sinner was involved in an emotional match against Richard Gasquet, but he kept his composure and played at a solid level. Jiri Lehecka would be a big test, and he must be looking forward to the challenge. Lehecka is playing at a high level but has never won a set against the Italian. I expect him to hold his own and make it a close match. However, Sinner is too good to lose this. Sinner in 4

Damian Kust: Lehecka posted a good win over Davidovich Fokina and you almost feel for the guy as he’s facing such a winning machine here. Their matches from last year (or how meekly the Czech played against Djokovic in Australia) don’t suggest this has upset potential, but should still be the tightest match the World No. 1 has had yet. Sinner in 4

Ilemona Onekutu: Jannik Sinner has been clinical so far, while Jiri Lehecka arrives battle-tested after two tough matches. Sinner has dominated this matchup in the past but Lehecka’s power and improved clay-court game could challenge him. Sinner’s precision and movement should give him the edge, but Lehecka’s aggressive hitting could keep it close if he maintains a high level. Expect a competitive match with Sinner’s consistency likely proving decisive. Sinner in 4

Alexander Bublik vs Henrique Rocha

Embed from Getty Images

Ateet: This should be an intriguing matchup between two players who staged remarkable comebacks in their second-round match. Henrique Rocha recovered from a two-set deficit to defeat the in-form Jakub Mensik, while Alexander Bublik did the same against Alex de Minaur. Bublik started playing superb tennis in the third set and never looked back. If he can maintain that level of concentration, he will advance to the second week of the French Open for the first time. Bublik in 4

Damian: The comeback heroes of the previous round now meet each other. The quality that Bublik has shown on the clay in the last few weeks is immense and his backhand is simply an elite shot. But he can still go off mentally at any time, so Rocha will always feel like there’s a chance. It’s just not in the hands of the Portuguese. Bublik in 4

Ilemona: Bublik, fresh off a gritty comeback win, faces rising qualifier Rocha, who stunned Mensik in five sets. The Kazakh’s unpredictable power and experience should edge out Rocha’s tenacious baseline game, but fatigue from marathon matches could slow both. Expect Rocha to keep things close but Bublik’s flair however should prevail. Bublik in 5

Alexander Zverev vs Flavio Cobolli

Embed from Getty Images

Ateet: Zverev wasn’t as efficient in the second round as he was against Learner, as he started slowly and lost the first set to Jesper de Jong, who played a very good match. Zverev improved his level from the second set onwards and served brilliantly. His game looks good to go against the in-form Flavio Cobolli, who battled past his compatriot in the second round. This is the first meeting between these two, and I believe it will be a tight contest. Zverev in 5

Damian: Zverev dropped the opening set against de Jong, but after that the match never came alive again. Well, this should be the first proper encounter for last year’s finalist. Cobolli is flying high on confidence after just winning Hamburg and should be a decent threat to the German, but one that I believe he ultimately fends off. Zverev in 4

Ilemona: Zverev’s power and experience will be put to the test by in-form Cobolli who is coming off two ATP clay titles this year. The Italian’s aggressive baseline game could test Zverev, if the German starts slowly. While Zverev’s superior serve and defense may control stretches of the match, Cobolli’s relentless intensity and improved stamina will ultimately prevail in what is expected to be a thrilling match. Expect the upset as the rising star digs deep to topple the former finalist. Cobolli in 5

Cameron Norrie vs Jacob Fearnley

Embed from Getty Images

Ateet: Cameron Norrie backed his brilliant win over Daniil Medvedev with an impressive straight-sets win in the second round. This is the best run of form Norrie has had in quite some time, and he will hope to continue the run. Jacob Fearnley has never been to a fourth round of a Slam, and playing against his compatriot won’t be easy. Both players are known for their fight, and we can expect a long match. Norrie’s experience might be the key. Norrie in 4

Damian: Two Brits with college history for the same team, but due to their age difference they wouldn’t have met at TCU. It’s tough to say what will happen here, Fearnley is the now of British tennis compared to Norrie but still learning clay (albeit very quickly). Flip a coin, big moment for both of them. Fearnley in 5

Ilemona: Norrie rides into round three with confidence after ousting Medvedev in five and easing past Gómez. Fearnley, the surging TCU alum, stunned Wawrinka and advanced past Humbert, looking sharp in his Roland Garros debut. Though Fearnley’s fearless rise is impressive, Norrie’s clay-court savvy and grinding style give him the edge. Fatigue could be a factor after Norrie’s long opener, but his consistency should outlast Fearnley’s aggressive bursts. Norrie in 5

Main Photo Credit: Susan Mullane-USA TODAY Sports

The third round of the French Open is heating up, and we have all the predictions for Saturday’s matchups.
