As ever, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for both matches – but who will secure their spot in Saturday’s final?

WTA Rabat Semifinal Predictions

Ajla Tomljanovic vs Maya Joint

Head-to-head: first meeting

Maya Joint arrived here after a dominant 6-1 6-1 victory over Ann Li. The Australian teenager won in just 65 minutes, landing 66% of her first serves and saving five out of six breakpoints she faced to reach her first tour-level semifinal on clay. She is on a 28-13 record for 2025 and is assured of breaking into the top 70 after this tournament.

Ajla Tomljanovic also reached the semifinals with a strong performance, overcoming Spain’s Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in straight sets, completing the match in just 66 minutes. The World No. 79 has dropped a set in both of her previous matches in this tournament but she’s now into her second semifinal appearance of the season and her first on clay. The 32-year-old has a 7-4 record on this surface this year.

Both players are positioned just one spot apart in the WTA rankings and will see their rankings improve after this tournament. While Tomljanovic brings a wealth of experience to this clash, she faces one of the tour’s most exciting young talents. Joint is known for her fearless shot-making ability and has already challenged some top players this season. If she maintains the determined mindset that propelled her into the top 80, we believe Joint is poised for a significant win in this all-Aussie matchup.

Prediction: Joint in 3
Embed from Getty Images

Camila Osorio vs Jaqueline Cristian

Head-to-head: Cristian 1-0 Osorio

Second seed Camila Osorio began the week with a comeback victory over Elisabetta Cocciaretto in the opening round before rallying to defeat Russia’s Kamilla Rakhimova in three sets in the next match. In the quarterfinals, Osorio secured a straight-sets victory against Maria Mateas, dropping only four games, unleashing five aces and landing 67% of her first serves to extend her win ratio on clay to a commendable 9-3 record this year.

Unseeded Jaqueline Cristian arrived with a solid reputation as a clay-court competitor and is in her second semifinal appearance of the season, having previously claimed the championship at the WTA 125K in Puerto Vallarta at the end of March. Her current clay record stands at 6-3.

Following her recent title win in Bogota, Osorio is on a high note. She possesses a deft touch on clay and a diverse array of shots to counter players like Cristian, who rely heavily on baseline play. However, Cristian has proven effective against skilled players this week, and her recent win over Sevastova may provide her with the momentum needed to reach the final. The Romanian should win this encounter, but it won’t be easy.

Prediction: Cristian in 3

Main photo credit: Taya Gray/The Desert Sun / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images

It should be an entertaining day of semifinal action at the WTA Rabat Open in Morocco, with all four players still in contention no doubt determined to secure their spot in the final and maintain their momentum ahead of the French Open.
