This article features #2 seed Camila Osorio, who will face Kamilla Rakhimova. As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for every match on the slate. But which players will advance to the quarterfinals?

WTA Rabat Day 3 Predictions

Arantxa Rus vs Maria Mateas

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Arantxa Rus came through a tough opener against lucky loser, Nicole Foussa Huergo, to get her first tour-level win of the season. This was an important win for the 34-year-old, and she will look to continue the momentum and get to another quarterfinal at the Morocco Open. Maria Mateas must be delighted after getting the first tour-level win of her career. However, facing a top 100 player would be a significant step up in level, and I’m not sure she’s up to the challenge right now.
Prediction: Rus in 3

Jessica Bouzas Maneiro vs Sada Nahimana

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Jessica Bouzas Maneiro had to overcome Julia Grabher’s second-set comeback to win the match in the third. It was not a pretty match for her, but she got the job done and kept her first-round win streak alive at this clay season. Sada Nahimana created history for her Nation as she became the first ever Burundian to win a tour-level tennis match. It was a favourable opening match for Nahimana, and she made it count. Bouzas Maneiro would be a much difficult challenge, though.
Prediction: Bouzas Maneiro in 2

Embed from Getty Images

Ajla Tomljanovic vs Tatiana Pieri

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Ajla Tomljanovic has a fantastic record at the Morocco Open, and she is off to another great start, beating the #5 seed, Viktoriya Tomova, in three sets. It was a close match with lots of breaks, but Tomljanovic’s high first serve percentage proved to be the difference. The Australian will head into the second round as the favourite on paper against Tatiana Pieri, who had a dominant performance in the first round, but Tomljanovic would be a different calibre of opponent.
Prediction: Tomljanovic in 2

Camila Osorio vs Kamilla Rakhimova

Head-to-Head: Osorio 3-0 Rakhimova

Camila Osorio had an extremely tough first-round test, and she passed it with flying colours. She is the highest seed remaining in the draw and will look to put herself in a position to win another title on clay. However, her draw doesn’t get much easier, as she faces another stern test against Kamilla Rakhimova, who breezed past her first-round opponent. These two have met three times before, with Osorio winning each time, and now on a five-set winning streak. I expect Rakhimova to fight hard, but I believe the Colombian will eventually prevail.
Prediction: Osorio in 3

Main Photo Credit: Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Day 3 at the WTA Morocco Open in Rabat is packed with exciting matches as all eight second-round matches are scheduled.
